Before embarking on my first overseas teaching job, my Mom looked at me and said, "You're the right person for this." Thus began a journey of teaching, learning and global discovery that was to shape the person I am today. I get back so much more than I give, and I give a tremendous amount, making sure my students get what they need, and more. Tutoring provides a more personal approach to education, in the spirit of friendliness, sharing and the broadening of horizons.

Hello. I currently graduated from New York University. I have a BA in biology and minor in computer science. I am currently working towards getting a MD in the future. At the moment, I am currently prepping for the MCAT. I am immersed in the laboratory setting and in the process of publishing my work on developmental aspect of flies.Since high school, I really enjoyed learning about biology and chemistry. I realized that many students struggled with concepts in these subjects. I know its very difficult to understand many of the processes either in the human body or in chemical reactions. My past tutoring experience gives me the confidence to effectively teach concepts with ease. As a tutor, I would like to understand the hurdles that the student is facing on the problem. In order to efficiently tutor a student, the student must understand the basic foundation of concept and it relates to the problem. I truly believe that all students can succeed in every subject.I would like to have a tutoring environment that is fun and helpful for the student. Let me pass on my experience and help you achieve the scores that you want.

I've been lucky to have attended some fine educational institutions, though I don't come from the kind of background where such opportunities can be taken for granted. I believe every student should have the same opportunities as I've had, and I want to do everything I can to make those opportunities available to every student.

I am currently studying Computer Engineering and Computer Science at Northeastern University. I have always loved the sciences, and through my courses in college I have also gained a huge appreciation for math, and especially calculus. I find that teaching concepts I've learned is the best way to truly cement my understanding of it. One of the most satisfying moments for me is when an idea finally "clicks" for a student and they suddenly understand the material much better. I always strive to make that happen. While in high school, I gained a year experience tutoring a classmate in AP Biology. In college I have aced my math courses, including Calculus 1 (differential) and Calculus 2 (integral). I earned very high scores on the ACT by practicing on my own and I consider myself a very good test taker, so I understand the techniques to get high scores on tests.

Knowledge, patience, and reliability. These are the three characteristics I aim to bring to my students.Knowledge comes from my diverse educational background in a wide variety of fields such as computer science, law, ESL, and general test taking skills. I have devoted years of study to each of these fields and I bring this to my students.Patience comes from my naturally calm demeanor, and my strong desire to help my students understand the materials in front of them. It also comes from knowing that everyone learns at their own pace, and that everyone can learn any concept, if given the proper opportunity.Reliability reflects my ability to let my students know they can count on me to help them advance in their studies. It also reflects my punctuality to make my appointments and communicate with my clients.

I have eight years experience teaching French in public high school and middle school environments. I have worked with beginners and intermediate students, as well as students in advanced levels of French.I enjoy tutoring one-on-one, because I am able to focus solely on the needs of one individual. As a school teacher, I have been amazed at how effective one or two private extra help sessions can be for the student who has been struggling in the larger class environment. I believe that I explain language concepts clearly and in a way that students of all skill levels can understand. My students have told me over the years that I am a patient and encouraging teacher and that I make learning French fun. I love helping students realize that they CAN in fact learn French, even if they thought they couldn't! One of my 9th grade students once wrote the following to me: "You are one of the most positive people I have ever met, and you taught me never to give up. You always have a HUGE smile on your face, and that is why I look up to you and why you are one of my role models."

I am a recent graduate of Duke University in Durham, NC where I obtained my Bachelor's of Science degree in Mathematics and Economics with a concentration in Finance and a French minor. I am originally from Rock Hill, SC, but I am a new Financial Analyst at IBM in Armonk, NY. I was a Calculus I and II tutor through the Academic Resource Center at Duke for two years, and I developed much experience in this role. I learned that in order to be an effective tutor, the I must not only teach the materials learned in a clear manner, but must also be able to teach beneficial study habits for the student to apply throughout his or her coursework.I am a very analytic person with a diverse learning background. I have learned many disciplines, and thus I am a tutor for a wide range of subjects in Mathematics, Economics, and French up to the level of French II. Math has been a passion of mine since I was able to count, and my interest my other subjects of knowledge have developed over the years.Outside of academics, I am a musician. I have played percussion from sixth grade and throughout college, and I hope to continue this passion in a more informal setting. I played snare drum on the drumline throughout high school and college, and that was a major highlight of my educational experience. I also enjoy arts and crafts, running, and exploring New York City.
