I am currently a high school teacher of students with autism. This is my 16th year teaching this population and I love my career. I obtained my Bachelor's degree in elementary education and psychology from Rider University and my Master's degree in Special Education from Kean University. I received 18 post-master's credits in Behavior Analysis from Rutger's University and 12 credits towards earning a certification in LDTC (Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant). I am passionate about teaching and watching my students progress towards their individualized goals. My tutoring style is working one on one or in small groups, just as I do in my self contained classroom. This allows me to individualize instruction to meet each students' learning style. After school, I have often tutored elementary school students in Language Arts, Math, History, and other subjects, such as functional social and behavior skills. My strong liberal arts background has also given me great appreciation for and mastery of critical thinking, textual analysis, and articulate writing across subject areas.As a straight-A student my entire life, I hold myself and my students to a very high standard. I care greatly about the details and hold firm that quality always matters. That said, I wholeheartedly believe that learning is a process and perfection does not come without struggle and persistence. I worked as a kindergarten and afterschool teacher at a prestigious private school in Boston after graduation, before returning to school to complete a Master's in Near Eastern and Judaic studies at Brandeis University with a 3.96 GPA. I have had experience as a Professional Outdoor Instructor where I taught middle school students natural sciences, outdoor survival skills, as well as team building skills.
