I am currently a senior at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, and I am double majoring in Genetics, Cell Biology, and Development and French. I am pre-med, so I do hope to go to medical school next year and am currently in the process of applying. I graduated from Hinsdale Central High School in 2012, and there I was a member of the National Honors Society which was my first experience with tutoring. I am currently a volunteer at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital, and I help patients and siblings with homework and reading there, as well.I am passionate about the life sciences and the French language, and I love helping others foster a deeper understanding in these two particular subjects! I also genuinely enjoy algebra and statistics and am quite the grammarian. From preschool to college, I actually loved going to school every day and learning, and I hope to bring that love to others, also! I spent the fall of 2014 in Montpellier, France, and there I worked on mastering the French language. When I am not studying, you can find me doing a puzzle, baking, reading, going for a walk, or watching the Blackhawks and the White Sox.

I got my degree in computer science from the University of Minnesota with minors in math and astrophysics. Since then I've been working as a software engineer, primarily with Python and HTML/CSS/JavaScript. During college I enjoyed working as an algebra and geometry teaching assistant with the University of Minnesota Talented Youth Mathematics Program (after finishing the program myself), and since then I've continued to help math students after school and volunteered in coding workshops to teach kids about Python via computer-generated drawings and Minecraft modding. For me, teaching and tutoring are how I like to share subjects I'm experienced in and passionate about (especially computer skills, Python, and math) with others. I try to convey the principles and thought process that are the basis of my own understanding of the subject, not just rules to follow or things to memorize. Being able to explain your answer is even more important than simply getting it right! My tutoring style is personalized, with plenty of examples and frequent knowledge checks to ensure I and my student(s) are in sync. In my spare time I enjoy cycling, skiing, woodworking, reading, and vacationing to Lake Superior.

Hi, my name is Parsan and I am a sophomore at the University of Minnesota majoring in Economics. I enjoy helping people learn because I believe true mastery of a subject is being able to teach it. My promise to the students I work with is to put in as much work as they do. I firmly believe that what you get out of something depends on what you put in, so whatever a student will put in I will give back.In my free time I really enjoy being outside with friends, long boarding, and martial arts. I achieved my black belt in Goju-Ryu Karate after eight years, and now frequently practice independently at home. I was lucky to be able to visit several countries in Europe this summer and hope to travel more on upcoming holidays. My goal is to work as an English teacher in a Taiwanese Summer camp after this school year.

I am a writer, editor, producer, curator and lover of words. I spent many years holding editorial positions on both coasts (California and New York), but was happy to lay some roots and start a family back home in Minneapolis, a city alive with art, activism and stories waiting to be told. I am excited to help students craft their own words as well as assist with many other subjects, including English, writing, politics and social sciences.

We are what we continually do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit. - AristotleMy aim is to help you cultivate character that leads to a habit of consistent clarity. I want to help you first to understand and empathize, before criticizing an argument. And when you criticize, I want to help you aim with laser-sharp focus at whether that criticism is based on misinformation, "mal-infomration", or a lack of information.

I am a graduate of Stanford University, where I received a BS in Cognitive Science and an MS in Computer Science. After graduation, I spent a summer in Palestine, where I taught web development, app development, and entrepreneurship to a cohort of overenthusiastic high school students; now, I've moved halfway across the country from the Bay Area to the Twin Cities. From volunteering with organizations like Twin Cities Rise and The Mid-Continent Oceanographic Institute to checking out art institutions like the Walker and Mia, it's been such a wonderful time settling into this new place that I call home.So how can I help? I'm a tutor in Computer Science and Math, and I've worked with students across the middle school, high school, and college levels to strengthen their grasp on the material and boost their confidence in those subjects. I believe that education is so much more than a means to a job or a race to the finish; it's about giving us the direction to learn how to think for ourselves and the challenge of asking ourselves what we should be thinking about. I hope that I'll be able to help steer the classes you're taking and the standardized tests you're studying for away from a path of drudgery and towards a path of curiosity and fulfillment. I look forward to working with you!

I am super excited to help anyone out! I am currently a high school teacher of biology and love helping students out. I got my teaching degree at NDSU. I realized that I would love to be able to reach more people outside of my area and help them out when needed especially with everything crazy going on in the world. I love teaching for the moments when students finally understand something and it clicks together. I love making personal connections and getting to know people for more than just their academics as I believe everyone is a person before anything else. I am excited to get the chance to work with anyone and look forward to meeting lots of people.

Working with children for over ten years, I have found a passion for helping students overcome adversities by excelling academically and building behavioral skills to succeed. I love the puzzle of addressing my students' areas of need by monitoring progress, individualizing instruction, and using their natural strengths to specifically tailor their instruction. I also enjoy empowering students and their parents by utilizing their mutual goals and values as a part of our lessons.Following earning my Masters of Education at Vanderbilt University's Peabody College, I have worked as a certified Special Education teacher for students with learning and behavioral disabilities in 4th-8th grade. I have worked with children in a variety of settings from babysitting and nannying to tutoring in math, reading, and other content areas, and I enjoy working with all ages. It is essential to me to have a professional yet compassionate, positive relationship with my students to truly access their academic potential. I focus on structured behavior management, positive reinforcement and goal making. It is my priority to provide highest caliber of services to match my students' and parents' goals.

I am a class of 2015 graduate of Boston College. I have been brought to the world of tutoring because of my desire to help students through the stressful time of taking those big scary standardized tests. Both the ACT and the SAT gave me a large amount of anxiety when I was a junior in high school and I want to help other students through this process. This desire brought me to tutor kids in the local Boston high schools while I was in college and now I have taken my talents to the Twin Cities. Some fun facts about me not related to test taking are that I played the sousaphone in college, I sing in a local choir and that I can make a mean apple pie.

ACT Math Tutor • +20 Subjects
I recently graduated from the University of Minnesota with degrees in chemical engineering and chemistry. During my schooling I was routinely asked to break down big problems, identify the key parts, and then solve them. This same thinking has made me a successful teacher in areas much broader then math and science. By breaking down a problem and identifying key points I believe I can lead any student to academic success.I discovered my love of teaching during my senior year of college. Now I hope that I can take what I am good at (math and science) and what I'm passionate about (teaching others) to empower students to achieve their goals.
