I was lucky. My mother was an educator, and I received an excellent public school education through high school. When I entered college, I had earned enough credits (English, Biology, Calculus) to be a sophomore, technically. I used the openings that created to explore some unusual subjects: golf, martial arts, and living in Mexico for a semester. When I continued on to my MS, I had a graduate fellowship with the Political Science department. That gave me my first opportunity to teach, freshman American Government.I am curious by nature. I see learning as an adventure. You never know where it might take you.

I first began tutoring unofficially my senior year in high school after my physics teacher asked me to help some of his freshman students. It became an incredibly rewarding experience, for these students that I stuck with for nearly the entire school year were able to boost their grade up and feel more confident in their work. Some of my hobbies include playing tennis, hiking, and watching reruns of "Malcolm in the Middle" (my all-time favorite TV show).Currently, I'm a senior at the University of Pittsburgh double majoring in Neuroscience and Spanish and minoring in Chemistry.

Hello, my name is Matthew Burruss! To tell you a little bit about myself, I was born and raised from Louisville, Ky. This coming fall, I will be begin studying engineering at Vanderbilt University. As a recent graduate from high school and a current student in college, I understand the stress of school and the desire to succeed scholastically. As a tutor, my goal is to not only take away the unnecessary stress of school, but to also teach it in a way that is immersive and linked to the real world. When it comes to standardized testing or general classroom success, half the battle is understanding that you can succeed and becoming comfortable with the material. As a tutor, I promise to try my best until this goal is reached and to help my clients achieve their own personal goals along the way. All in all, I look forward to working with you and helping you succeed!

I just graduated with a degree in chemical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and I am interested in tutoring math here in San Antonio. I have a fundamental understanding of Geometry, Algebra I and II, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus I through III. When I attended the University of Texas I tutored middle school and high school students in math and science at the Carver Library in east Austin. Additionally, I have tutored close friends taking College Algebra, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus. I really do enjoy teaching and I believe I would be a great help to the students here in San Antonio.

My name is Arooba Amjad and I am a recent college graduate! I graduated from Stony Brook University with a degree in Interdisciplinary Biology. While at Stony Brook, I was a part of many organizations that helped me develop key communications skills that I like to implement in my teaching. I have dealt with many different types of professors in my biology courses and understand that certain learning methods that essentially work for me might not be ideal for someone else. I hope to really get to know my students in order to see them succeed.Aside from studying and teaching I really like to sit back and watch movies and shows! I love crime and drama related shows that have me screaming at the TV.I won't bore you with my teaching experiences because my resume includes my teaching experiences. I have taught a wide variety of age groups and subjects. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me.

I am a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering. During my undergrad career, I was a tutor and mentor for math students enrolled in online Calculus courses. After graduation, I worked in the manufacturing industry for four years holding numerous functional roles as part of a leadership development team for operations. I further developed my teaching skills within my work experience and was able to apply math principles to real life applications. Currently, I am enrolled at Georgia Institute of Technology pursuing a Master's degree in Supply Chain Engineering. I enjoy tutoring and passing along my knowledge and passion for math to all students. In my spare time when I am not working or attending school, I enjoy bowling, golfing, watching TV and movies.

I am senior at the University of Michigan studying robotics and electrical engineering. I have worked as a robotics teacher for elementary students and I have several years of tutoring and teaching experience. While I tutor primarily in math, I also have experience using robotics as a tool to teach other subjects in order to engage students who love STEM from an early age without letting them fall behind in reading or grammar. Having been a student during the pandemic and a tutor through all stages of reopening, I understand how difficult it can be to learn online, so I make it a priority to be animated and engaging, going back to basics if necessary, and leave my students more comfortable to tackle problems on their own by the end of a session.

My degree is in mathematics but I also have a minor in statistical methods. I am also well versed in the Python programming language. In the past I have worked with college students struggling in early mathematics courses such as trigonometry, algebra and elementary statistics. While at my university I also worked with adult students pursuing a GED.Ultimately, mathematics is not about memorizing formulas but about the logical process of arriving at a conclusion. Ideally, my job will consist of reminding the student of the tools at their disposal and they will make the leap themselves towards their desired answer. This ability to think about problems is not limited to mathematics and, if mastered, will stay with the student for the rest of their lives.Aside from mathematics I enjoy playing my piano. I especially love playing music from movie, TV show and video game soundtracks.
