I am a graduate of UW-Eau Claire with a BS in communication sciences and disorders and an MS in speech-language pathology. While in school, I was a TA and completed a masters thesis. I have been an SLP for 6 years and that continues to be my "day job." I wanted to get into tutoring because I wanted something flexible while still teaching- it truly is a passion of mine! I've learned a lot being in public education, including working with students who have a wide variety of needs. I meet students where they are at with their skills and use their interests and strengths to continue progressing their goals. I am a great listener and place a lot of value on forming strong relationships with my students.

I received my BA from Augustana University with a major in Biology and a minor in Psychology. I grew up thinking that I wanted to become a Physician Assistant, but learned through being a Teaching Assistant during undergrad that I loved teaching. After graduating with my BA degree, I attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham to get my Masters in Anatomical Sciences and a CIRTL Associate certificate so that I could teach at an upper level. I have multiple semesters-worth of experience as a Teaching Assistant for Biology and Anatomy, both throughout my undergraduate and graduate degrees. My favorite subject is Anatomy, but I enjoy teaching other Biology subjects as well! I believe that all students are capable of learning, and it is my responsibility to help them find the ways they learn best and most enjoy. Outside of teaching, I like being outside doing activities that include hiking, disc golf, sand volleyball, and golf, as well as painting, and enjoying a good TV show or movie with friends.

I have always a passion for curiosity. The buzzword "lifelong learner" has been around the education world for quite some time. But I want to have a lifelong curiosity. I always want to know things work and how to better understand things. I bring that same passion for curiosity to everything that I do, especially teaching and tutoring. Nothing brings me greater joy than being able to bring someone closer to their capability. My biggest teaching motto has been: "I don't teach based on what I know my students can already. I teach based on where I know they are capable of going and what they are capable of doing." I believe that people should always strive to know more. Curiosity makes the world a better and, frankly, a more fun place. If I can instill that lifelong curiosity into even one of my students, I would have reached success.I also firmly believe that conversation is a huge part of a successful teaching/learning process. No one knows how the students learn better than the students themselves. I constantly check in with how students are doing, often before I tell them how I think they are doing. This constantly dialogue allows us to form a better connection and does nothing but allow me to teach and the student learn better. I want to know their goals, interests, hobbies, learning styles, and anything and everything in between. This process is not a dictatorship but a partnership.I look forward to getting know my students and helping them on their educational journey!!!!

I am a graduate of Hamline University. I received my Bachelors in Fine Arts in Creative Writing and a minor in English. I am currently the fellowship holder at the Bennington Writing Seminars where I will earn my Masters in Fine Arts in Creative Writing. For the past two years, I tutored students in Saint Paul Public Schools with the Minnesota Reading Corps. I’ve also worked with college-bound high school students at the Hamline Young Writers’ Workshop. In my experiences with tutoring, I’ve learned to connect with readers and writers of different age groups and academic backgrounds. I have extensive workshop experience with essay writing and editing for both academic and literary merit. I’m also an award winning writer and very active within local literary community. Since reading and writing is such a big part of my life, sharing my knowledge with others is an absolute joy. I believe that education can add a true sense of richness to one’s life, and that’s why I’ve made it the center of my life. In my free time, I enjoy running, skiing, baseball, ice fishing, and the arts.

I graduated from Macalester College, where I double majored in Linguistics and Hispanic Studies. I love reading and writing and talking- anything that involves language, I'm in! I am available to tutor reading, writing of all kinds, elementary math, public speaking, and Spanish. My favorite subject to tutor is definitely Spanish. I was a Spanish tutor at my college my Senior year, and I love helping other people figure out the intricacies of such a beautiful language. I believe that everyone is capable of learning, and if someone is having difficulties, then we just haven't found the right approach yet, but given time, we certainly can! In my spare time I enjoy backpacking with my family and playing video games.

I believe that I was born to teach introductory economics to young people. I love to experience that aha moment when a student sees the connection between what they are learning about economics and what they see in their own world.

From the time that I was in grade school, I knew I wanted to be a teacher. My first experience with teaching was showing my younger sister how to multiply and divide. I studied elementary education at the University of Houston and graduated in 2012. I am also a certified teacher for Pre-Kindergarten through siSixth Grade. Now I am a 4 year veteran teacher! I have been teaching in the elementary level for 4 years in an urban environment. Most of the students that I have worked with have been at least 1 grade level behind. One of my goals as a teacher is to ensure the success of my students regardless of how far behind they are. I have also worked with students that are gifted and talented and need enrichment included in their learning experiences. I can't wait to begin working to provide additional support and learning for students!

I'm a graduate of Arizona State University with a bachelor's degree in Computer Systems Engineering and have worked a wide variety of jobs in my career. As a tutor, I see my strength as being a good listener; this helps me better understand the students' difficulties in learning and together with the student develop methods better suited to their individual learning style.

I'm a pre-medical student with a goal of becoming a physician. To reach this stage, I have had to do a lot of studying. Material doesn't naturally click with me, and I have done a lot of studying to understand it. I understand that sometimes extra tutoring is needed to help excel in a subject, and it is completely okay to get that help. I'm here to help students whose position I was previously in.
