Welcome! I'm so excited to introduce myself to you. I have a MA in Special Education concentrating on Emotional and Behavior Disorders, and my BA is in University Studies focusing on English and History. I have a wide range of experience as a teacher- I've taught both in the classroom and online. My favorite subjects to teach are chess, English, and ESL. I strive to make learning fun as that is the key to retention! I look forward to seeing you in class!

I am a graduate of The Tecnolgico de Antioquia University in Colombia 2012. I received my Bachelor's in Basic Education with a focus on Spanish and Humanities. Then, I got my grades as a Master in Education in 2015. Nowadays I am enrolled as a Ph.D. student at the University Nacional de La Plata in Argentina. Since 2006 I have been teaching as a full-time job and my side income always was tutoring, which means that I have been in the education field about 15 years now. I worked as a classroom teacher with ages from Tk (4 years old kids) up to college (adults).I am passionate about Education, I love reading, and enjoy reading aloud.I had a tutoring business in my country for some years, I was the learning director and owner, and also I worked as a learning director for public schools in my home country and my last position was as a principal.I believe in education, I have been all my life involved in this field, and I love research and making speeches about my field. I hereby know that education helps us to be near each other and open to all this world's challenges.In my spare time, I enjoy reading which enriches my life, walking, and puzzles.

It has always fascinated me, the art of language: speaking it, writing it, reading it, and teaching it. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in French Language with First Class Honors from Covenant University in Nigeria, and although I didn't get a chance to formally teach in the classroom, I have always had an interest in passing on the knowledge of such a beautiful language, having tutored students on Grammar and Reading comprehension. My keen eye for editing and proofreading essays was developed in my undergraduate years, and has continued even after graduate school! I am also able to teach and assist with a wide range of subjects such as Ethics, Public Administration, and many other social science subjects. I am adaptable, fun, and engaging, and will be sure to make your learning experience an enjoyable one!

I have been a Special Education teacher for 15 years and I've taught every subject at the High School level. I decided that I wanted to become a teacher after I spent a year in AmeriCorp. I taught GED and job training courses at a women's center in Baltimore City. I saw first hand how powerful and education can be. I have my B.A. in History and a M.A. in Special Education. I have taken extra College courses in Math to become highly qualified to teach Math. I have taken two Master's level Physics courses to work towards my Physics Teacher certification. Last summer I took the Virginia Council on Economics Education course to familiarize myself with the content on the WISE exam. I enjoy teaching Math, Science and History. I try to incorporate real world examples into my course content so students can relate to the information they are learning.

I received my Bachelor of Science Degree for Human Development and Human Services from Virginia Tech-- Go Hokies! While at Virginia Tech, I developed a love for working with students through an internship at a middle school. This experience encouraged me to go on to pursue my Masters degree so I could be a teacher. I have been a public and private school teacher for 16 years. I currently teach in Suffolk, VA as a Kindergarten teacher. During the pandemic, I was a virtual teacher for almost a whole school year so I have grown exceptionally proficient at holding virtual class meetings and small group or one to one tutoring sessions. I am passionate about teaching children to read which is why I have devoted time toward pursuing extensive training in phonemic awareness, phonics, and structured reading. I was voted the Reading Teacher of the Year at my school building in the 2018-2019 and 2021-2022 school year. Other subjects I enjoy teaching are math, social studies, and science. During tutoring sessions, I use hands-on materials as well as technology tools to balance the format of activities and learning preferences using best practices of how children learn. I work to help a child where they are and then push them forward with some beneficial struggle and effort. In my spare time, I enjoy reading mysteries and going for hikes in my free time.

I am a sophomore at the College of William and Mary majoring in Government with a potential minor in Sociology. I've always been eager to help others learn, whether that was helping my classmates in high school work through assignments they were struggling with or my younger brother succeed during virtual school. I am always committed to maintaining a positive attitude, and my main goal is to see students succeed!

After serving as an Officer in the Navy until 1997, I completed a Master of Education degree at Old Dominion University in 1999.After earning my Masters, I began teaching Algebra II, Trigonometry/Pre-Calculus, AP Calculus, and Physics at private schools in Chesapeake, VA until 2008. During the 2008-2009 school year, I began home schooling my two daughters. I also began teaching Geometry and Physics in their home-school co-op.In 2010, I began serving students as a private tutor in high school and college Math and Physics. I have found tutoring to be extremely rewarding, getting to know them better and seeing the understanding in their eyes when they understand how a difficult concept or skill can be used and their happiness as they become successful in using it.I am skilled at and enjoy tutoring all Math subjects and both high school and college Physics. My favorite of these subjects to tutor is AP Calculus.I want to teach students how to think in such a way that makes it easier for them to solve any problem: math, science, etc. When I tutor students, I ask them questions that lead them to understanding how to think critically and appropriately apply skills to answer new questions. I teach students how to ask themselves questions that lead to their solving problems on their own, no longer needing a tutor.I am a great fan of car racing, especially Formula 1. I have found that understanding the Physics and Math behind car racing makes this sport even more interesting.
