I've been tutoring/teaching for over 20 years. I can tutor all levels of mathematics and statistics including graduate levels. I've spent the past 12 years with an Autistic student who recently received his Ph.D in Systems Science/Mathematics. We've also been studying for the Society of Actuaries examinations.I spend most of the rest of my time designing/programming sequencers, synthesizers and strange effects processors in Max/MSP. My latest creations include a sequencer that uses Markov Chains and Genetic Algorithms to generate melodies, rhythms and harmonize groups of instruments. I also recently made a Real-Time Time Stretch and Pitch Shifter using Granular Synthesis. Lots of crazy fun.

My name is Elizabeth Brown. I am currently a Master's student studying Computational Linguistics with the goal of pursuing my PhD in the same field. My undergraduate degree was in History, French, and International Business. While completing my undergraduate degree, I studied abroad in France for a semester. I wrote my undergraduate thesis on pre-1700 colonial American history. I would love to someday combine my passions for languages and history. After completing my undergraduate degree, I moved to South Korea and taught English as a foreign language to elementary and middle school students for two years where I gained lots of experience working with students both one-on-one and in large classrooms on improving all aspects of their English language abilities.

I earned my Master's Degree in Special Education, specializing in Behavior Disorders and Learning Disabilities. I have taught children in grades Kindergarten through 5th grade with Behavior / Emotional Disabilities. I have helped children become prepared for standardized tests, specifically the STAAR. I also have experience in helping adult learners prepare for teaching license exams such as the PRAXIS and TExES. I believe that everyone is capable of learning and being successful. Obtaining my graduate degree at the Montclair State University in Communication Science and Disorders has equipped me to work with children with special needs in the New York City public schools for the last 13 years, among other settings. As a homeschooling mom to six wonderful children, I have discovered a love for teaching reading to children. Seeing how much my students who had reading difficulties struggled with their academics bolstered my resolve to train in the Orton-Gillingham method with the Institute for Multi-Sensory Education. Being a Certified Structured Literacy Dyslexia Interventionist and a Speech Language Pathologist enables me to most effectively help students improve their reading skills, since it is necessary to have good language comprehension and word recognition skills to become skilled at reading. I believe that a good evaluation is essential in getting to know my student's current level of functioning, strengths, areas for improvement, learning styles, and motivators. Caregiver or parent involvement is another very important ingredient in the learning process. When I'm not teaching, I love hanging out with my husband and six children. I also enjoy reading, baking, and creating digital therapy and educational materials.

Earlier, I attended Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Mumbai, India for post-graduation in chemical engineering. During PhD, I worked as a teaching assistant in the materials science and engineering laboratory. I received best TA award for academic year 2020-2021 based on students and professors' positive feedback. I am enthusiastic to teach mathematics subject from elementary to graduate level. In my experience I often see students struggling with math. So how to make it simple to understand, that is my part. I strongly believe that once you understand the things (basic concept), it will not be hard anymore. With practice one can become master.
