I currently teach college mathematics at a private university. I am a favorite of both my high achieving students and my students who are having trouble. I try to make math interesting (it actually is) and I truly care about my students. Helping students who do not grasp the material quickly and getting them to understand is the most rewarding thing I do. I believe that all students can master mathematics and usually find that there is either some underlying but simple problem that needs to be overcome and the student will succeed. Often, a failure to fully understand some basic arithmetic or a lack of sufficent repetitions of the assigned material material is the cause of a problem. Both can be overcome with some extra work and understanding.Higher level mathematics is simply elegant extensions of the fundamental principals we learned in lower level mathematics. Some of the symbols may look difficult, but beyond that and as in learning a language, familiarity through repetition and immersion makes it second nature.

I obtained my degrees at Florida Atlantic University: a bachelor's in mathematics and a master's in applied mathematics and statistics.I have been tutoring college students for about 4 years now, primarily in algebra and introductory statistics. I have tutored students in calculus on occasion as well.My goal has been to help students understand math instead of just memorizing it, along with enhancing their ability to independently solve problems.

I am originally from West Virginia and a graduate of West Virginia University. I received my Bachelor of Science in Wildlife and Fisheries Resources with minors in Conservation Ecology and Applied Statistics. During my undergraduate degree I travelled the state of West Virginia teaching natural resources science and conservation to a variety of youth groups including Boy Scouts and 4-H. I was also a teaching assistant for an upper-level conservation genetics course. I am currently earning my Master of Science in Biological Sciences from Nova Southeastern University where I study marine fish ecology in the Pacific Ocean. While at NSU I was a teaching assistant for a graduate level course in R programming and biostatistics. I have been an ACT/SAT test prep and subject tutor for almost two years now, and enjoy helping students reach their academic goals. I am most passionate about teaching science, English, and reading, but I also tutor many students that struggle in high school math. I emphasize a relaxed but focused environment while tutoring, and I want to help students build their confidence in whatever area they need support. I firmly believe that learning should always be interesting and fun, even when challenging. In my spare time I enjoy wildlife photography, reading, and hiking.

Since then, I have been teaching Spanish in Broward County Public Schools and tutoring High and Middle School students. My students enjoy learning Spanish because they improve their fluency and knowledge of the new language and the culture while applying their knowledge to their daily lives. In addition, I volunteer in the children ministry of my church. In my experience helping struggling students prepare for tests and projects, we have always seem to have the most fun (with remarkable advancements).
