I am a Chemical Engineering student at ASU, and I have been tutoring since I graduated high school in 2012. It is my goal to help students succeed in math, science, and standardized tests. My experience, knowledge, and patient teaching style have helped many students better understand challenging concepts.

I have 4 years of tutoring experience, and I have taught a wide variety of students. I have experience with adult returning students, those with learning disabilities, and pre-health students of all kinds. Personally, I don't lecture students. When students are seeking tutoring it is usually because the professors lecture failed to teach the student in a way that is best for them. I believe in engaging the student by having a conversation using visual examples and real life scenarios to ensure that the complex scientific concepts are fully understood and will resonate with the student for an extended period of time.

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Arizona State University. I hold a current teaching certificate through the state of Arizona for grades K-8 and a Structured English Immersion Endorsement. I have spent the last 7 years teaching and performing administrative duties as an assistant principal of a K-6 school. I am currently a stay at home mom who enjoys using my education and skills to help students through tutoring sessions. I am a graduate from the School of Molecular Sciences from Arizona State University. My Bachelor's Degree of Science was in Biochemistry. Since graduation, I have taken a gap year to work and build my medical school resume. Sometimes why a student struggles with a subject is because their foundational knowledge of that subject is not strong enough. My favorite subjects to tutor in are physics and mathematics. In my free time, I enjoy baking, painting, and exercising. Most summers I travel abroad to take care of my grandmother and work on keeping up my language skills (Turkish).

I received my English Teaching degree from Brigham Young University. I taught high school English classes for two years before starting a family and beginning work as a part-time tutor. I have tutored for several years in a variety of subjects, but my favorite subjects to tutor are writing and grammar. For the last three years I have tutored almost exclusively in college-level essay writing. I believe every student has the capacity to be a great writer. In each tutoring session, I teach concepts and principles of writing that students can apply immediately and for future writing assignments also. I also enjoy helping students prepare for college admission tests. I am a firm believer in education and the value of a college degree in shaping a person's future. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, baking, hiking, and tennis.

My favorite moment as a tutor is when the student stops looking at me like I'm crazy and light up with understanding. I have been tutoring since my sophomore year of high school and have grown to love it. I have been a private tutor, worked in a local tutoring center, and helped in my high school math lab as well as my college math lab. I am currently studying mechanical engineering with a minor in math at Brigham Young University Provo campus. Throughout my tenure as a math tutor, I have worked with students of all ages: elementary school to high school, college students, and middle-aged GED seekers.

During my formal education and since, I have sought out opportunities in the US and other countries to bring people together across cultural barriers. I love language's capacity to express and demonstrate cultural richness and uniqueness.I have helped elementary school children and adults learn English in Montrose, CO, and have helped adults build confidence in speaking and comprehending Spanish in several locations. I tutor for Spanish, ESL, and English.I always hope to be a bridge for people, helping them cross personal barriers of fear or the lack of knowledge and experience, so they can reach their goals and passions. I am a passionate learner, and bring that spark with me when I help others learn. I have an MA in French and international relations from Middlebury Institute of International Studies. My BA was from Emory University in International Studies plus linguistics. I speak three languages and have extensive experience teaching them, including English. I personally learned English through ESL classes and a few other languages in my adult years so I know how difficult it can be but also how rewarding it is to see life through different languages and cultures. I'm an expert in international relations, history, linguistics, and most humanity subjects. I feel confident in these areas due to my education and work experience in government in DC and abroad. The most fun fact about my background is that I have worked for the oldest living U.S president!
