I graduated from Western Michigan University in the summer of 2013 with a Bachelor's of Science in Elementary Education. I am certified to teach preK-5th grade in all subject areas in the states of Oregon and Michigan. Throughout college, I chose to focus on Early Childhood Education and worked primarily with preschool through second grade students. I taught Reading, Phonics, Spelling, Math, Science and Social Studies.Upon graduation I chose to move to the great state of Oregon, since my move I have been working with preschool students ranging in age from 2-5 years. At this time, I am teaching Phonics, Math, and Science.My favorite subjects to teach are Math and Reading. I enjoy seeing the light bulb come on during Math lessons when the problem "clicks" for a child. Reading has always been one of my favorite subjects to teach because you are contributing to a student's academic success in life. We have to learn to read so we can read to learn later in life.

I am a post-doctoral neuroscientist with a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University at Albany in New York and my Bachelor's of Science is in Psychology and Biology from Western Oregon University. I have been mentoring and tutoring high school, undergraduate, and graduate students for over 10 years across a variety of scientific disciplines. I love all areas of biology and use chemistry and math on a daily basis with my job, while I also have a degree emphasis in studio art from my undergraduate institution, which provides me with a broad background of expertise. I also have extensive public speaking experience and have mentored several people in developing/refining this skill. Additionally, I have done considerable work in writing mentorship ranging from college application essays to manuscripts.
