I am a Stanford student from Maryland studying Political Science and Computer Science. I graduated from high school in 2015, where I was active as the captain of my high school sailing team, a section leader in the orchestra, and part of the STEM magnet program Project Lead the Way. I am currently taking some time off from school to be around family here in Massachusetts and while I will be taking a few classes, I have plenty of time and lots of flexibility. I am excited to work with middle and high school students in math, reading and writing, social studies, and computer science. In addition to taking classes and tutoring this fall I will be volunteering in after school programs with low income middle and elementary school students.

Additionally, I am writing an honors thesis on the First Amendment.I am well-versed and educated in topics such as writing, reading comprehension, grammar, and am happy to help students in these areas and beyond. I also have a passion for political science and government, and am very knowledgable in both of these areas because of my coursework and independent research. I also help students write personal statements, cover letters, and other application materials at my on-campus job, which I have been trained by professionals to qualify for this position.I hope to help students become more confident in their studies, and in grasping difficult topics. I understand that learning can be a slow and tedious process sometimes, but I hope to ease this stress by explaining confusing topics in an interesting and original light. I am a graduate of Virginia Tech with degrees in Economics and Psychology. I have a passion for learning - whether it entails academics or understanding more about the people around me - and I believe that this passion drives me to help others learn as well. I received a PhD in political science from the University of Missouri in St. Louis. I also received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Truman State University (Kirksville, Missouri). I am currently an Assistant Professor of political science at State University of New York (SUNY) in Cortland. I tutor students in a range of subjects, though I am most excited to work with students in the subjects of writing, English, social studies/civics, American history and government. I am also good at helping students develop research proposals and outlines. I am passionate about helping high school students master material that will help them be successful in high school while also preparing them for college settings. I also very much enjoy helping college students get the most out of their college education by supporting them in being successful in their courses. I aim to help students with their acute course needs as well as assist them in developing skills for studying and learning that they can use throughout their entire lives. Before getting my PhD, I worked for nonprofit organizations; this experience allows me to engage with students about government and politics in ways that are real and relevant. I also like to help students explore career paths that can utilize their interest in government and politics. In my spare time, I enjoy reading fiction, hiking in one of the many beautiful state parks in upstate New York, and volunteering with organizations that help animals.

I am a graduate of Texas A&M University with a B.S. in Psychology and of Sam Houston State University with a M.A. in Clinical Forensic Psychology. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from my undergrad program and with a 4.0 for my master's degree. Throughout my undergraduate and graduate career, I spent much of my time tutoring and teaching. During undergrad I assisted with tutoring English, essay writing, and psychology courses, and during my master's program, I tutored and taught psychology courses and statistics for psychology. I am well versed in study techniques and methods of teaching that are helpful with high school and undergraduate students. Further, I spent the past year learning and teaching LSAT prep and scored very well on my LSAT in preparation for attending law school this coming Fall. In addition to my educational endeavors, I enjoy playing ultimate frisbee, doing crossfit, reading, and attending church-related events.

After graduating with my Bachelors in English I found out I had ADHD, and now what I really want to do is take my struggles with learning and use them to help other students understand and enjoy what they're learning about.

I have grown up with siblings, always helping them with their homework or subjects they didn't understand. Additionally, I volunteered at an elementary school library for an extensive amount of time where I interacted with the kids and helped run lesson plans. Now, I am looking to start tutoring as a part-time job while I do school, and am excited to do so. I believe learning should be fun and open, kids should feel like they can ask any question no matter how wrong they may feel they are about the subject. I like to make good friendships with my students to encourage them to be open with me but also have fun while learning.
