I consider myself to have two lives. For the 18 years of my adult life I worked at various positions at a major oil company assisting lawyers, geologists, and engineers. I decided to complete my bachelor's degree and become an educator. I have a bachelor's degree in Applied Arts and Science, master's degrees in School Administration and School Counseling from Lamar University. I have the following certifications: Special Education, ESL, Generalist (Grades 4-8), Principal, and School Counselor. I have training in assessing for dyslexia and providing skills training for the identified students. I have worked with struggling learners in both the special education and general education population. I have worked with other educators to develop appropriate educational plans for individual students. I believe that all students can learn but that each student needs to be reached in the way that is appropriate for him/her.

I earned a PhD in Economics from the University of Miami in May 2020. As an undergraduate, I double majored in mathematics and in economics at Brandeis University (BA 2012). I earned a masters in economics from the University of Oxford in 2014.

I work as a full stack developer for an IT Company. I have received a bachelors of science in math and computer science at the University of Houston - Downtown and a masters of science in computer science at the University of Houston - Clearlake. I am most passionate about math and computer science. I have taught community college developmental math classes for about 2 years. When I was a math student, I learn best by example and as a math teacher and tutor, I prefer to teach by example by walking through the steps and making sure the steps are understood. Also, starting off with the big picture, such as what is the purpose, is important as well. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, exercise, cooking, live music, and game design.

I have a real passion for working with others. I am currently a 3rd grade teacher for Anne Arundel County Public Schools. I have been in the same elementary school for almost 12 years. I absolutely love what I do and cannot ever see myself doing anything different. Ever since I can remember I had wanted to become a teacher. There is such a joy that comes from interacting with my students and getting to know them and watching them grow, both personally and academically. I believe that there is always a way to be successful, no matter what obstacles may stand in the way.I love to read, especially on the summer and sit in the sun, at the beach with my toes in the sand! I have recently began dabbling in restoring old furniture as I absolutely love antique and rustic decor. I try to be crafty and creative and tap onto my artsy side.

I have been tutoring in mathematics since my early years in high school. I first found my love of mathematics in Mr. Vreisman's classroom. He was my Algebra 1 teacher and encouraged me to continue to pursue the subject. His motto was, "Math is only as hard as you make it seem." He believed that most people had trouble in this subject because of the daunting stereotypes surrounding the difficulty of math. He proved us all wrong in that class. Ever since then, I adapted several different techniques and ways of teaching to encourage students to understand this thought process. My goal is help all of my clients understand that math is not hard, but getting out of the mentality that math is hard is where the difficulty lies.
