I am a high school history teacher who has also worked as a teaching assistant at one of the country's top 10 colleges. I've taught ACT/SAT prep for about 4 years to students at all ends of the academic spectrum: from those working with learning disabilities/accommodations & struggling with timing to those trying to achieve perfect scores. Although I always create individualized plans, I focus on teaching every student the most effective, step-by-step way to approach each question on each section of the test. Beyond test prep, I've taught/tutored just about every academic subject through the undergraduate level. Outside the classroom, I enjoy reading about history, going to church, coaching sports (track & tennis), and spending time with my family. I really enjoy getting to know each student I teach as we work toward our goals.

I recently finished my master's degree in physics at San Jose State University, where I focused on general relativity and quantum mechanics. During my studies, I conducted extensive research projects, including my MS thesis on Geodesics in Black Hole Spacetimes. This background has given me a solid understanding of math and physics, enabling me to explain complex concepts effectively to students. I have three years of experience tutoring at both San Jose City College and San Jose State University, where I have helped college students with math and physics, helping them with their homework assignments and offer explanations for challenging concepts in various subjects, including algebra, geometry, pre-calculus, and calculus, as well as general physics topics like mechanics, electromagnetism, waves, and light. As of this moment, I'm currently taking a gap year before going off to Rice University to pursue a PhD in Biochemistry. My main goal when teaching math is for the students to truly understand the concepts and reasoning behind math, and not just learn how to apply formulas and do well on tests. Although they may get good grades, this will be useless later in life. In my teaching experience, when students actually learn the concepts and logic, not only does their math vastly improve, but they also learn to enjoy math, which is the ultimate goal. My qualifications include excelling at all high school math competitions including finishing second at the 1989 Colorado Math Olympiad. I also graduated from MIT at 19 years old.
