Hi there! I'm a part-time graduate student studying public health and data science at NYU, and in undergrad, I double majored in anthropology and biology at UVA. I'm originally from the Washington, DC area, but I currently live in NYC where I work as a research analyst at a healthcare real estate investment trust.My first job at 16 sparked my passion for teaching, when I was a math instructor at Mathnasium. I taught all levels of math through Calculus AB/BC to students ages 4-19. I've had the opportunity to gain more experience since, TA'ing chemistry in college and even getting to design and teach my own 2-credit anthropology seminar.I hope to instill the understanding that learning is lifelong and gradual, and I believe students deserve patience and respect while they navigate their own learning styles -- I'm excited to work alongside other passionate and curious minds while helping you ace your exams in the process :)

I am a medical student at Midwestern University starting in August 2017. I recently graduated Midwestern University with a Masters degree in Biomedical sciences. Additionally, I attended University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), where I received my Bachelors of Sciences degree in Biology. My expertise lies in the field of sciences, however I have vast amount of knowledge in wide array of subjects including elementary math, pre-algebra, algebra and American History, with a particular emphasis in the American Revolution time period. I have worked with many different types of students ranging from middle schoolers, high schoolers and even some graduate level students. My philosophy behind tutoring is that everyone is capable of learning, however not all students learn the same way. Each student must have an educational plan tailored to their strengths and needs in order to truly be successful. I pride myself in being able to work with different age groups, because it allows me to approach each student from a different perspective. Based off my previous experiences, I have found one-on-one tutoring to be a quite joyful experience for me, because I truly love teaching and it does not get any better then helping a student overcome a complicated topic.

I also have a Master of Education degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Houston. I am hoping to pursue a degree in International Business soon. I have experience teaching Texas History, U.S. History, World Geography, AP Human Geography, and AP Psychology in both charter and public schools. I also have experience tutoring Mathematics at Sylvan Learning Center and Test Prep as a career coach for a non-profit organization. I am available to tutor a diverse selection of subjects from math, social studies, test prep, and Advanced Placement to students from all age groups. I tend to favor Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, AP Human Geography, U.S. History, and European History. I have also worked after school, in a CPS school, with students from the 5-8th grade.I am a native speaker of Spanish and have taken college level education to have fluency and proper grammar.I also have intermediate-level French proficiency. I can help tutor students with beginner's French.

Prior to that, I worked as a registered nurse for five years where I often did patient education in the middle of fast-paced, high pressure scenarios. I believe everyone has the capacity to succeed academically. However, each person's path to success is unique, requiring personalized strategies that complement individual learning styles. I am happy to work with students to help them discover the strategies that are most efficient and satisfying for them.
