I am a St. Cloud State University Alum with my Bachelors degree in Nursing. I am currently a graduate student at Western Governors University where I am pursuing my masters degree in nursing education. I have found a passion for teaching nursing students while working as a community clinical instructor. I am currently a student at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities and working toward a Master's in Counseling and School Personnel Psychology. I have worked with students in varies capacities, such as daycare facilities, summer school programs, and school environments. These settings have given me the opportunity to experience working with students from various cultures and backgrounds. The students I have worked with range in grade levels from elementary school all the way through college. I tutor in English, Art, Phonics, Reading, Social Studies, Social Sciences, Writing, essay editing, some test prep, and, of course, Psychology. I feel that my strengths lie in the areas of Psychology, Writing, Reading, and Essay Editing. I am passionate about enabling and empowering students within the realm of education (hence my current course of study) and can see this translating into every tutoring session. I have worked as an educator in multiple environments, ranging from a 7th grade classroom to the deck of an eighty foot sailboat!As a published writer and public speaker, my specialties are with literature, essay writing-- anything to do with language and storytelling.I have given lectures and performances at places like Yale, Harvard, UC San Diego, and Carleton College, to name a few.This year, I was awarded a Fulbright teaching grant to teach English in South Korea.My approach to education: Patience. Compassion. And humor! I promise I'll find a way for you to connect with the subject material you're learning.My hobbies include: making music (I was in a band that opened for Rae Sremmurd, once), hiking, and looking at pictures of dogs on the internet.

I have been working with children for the past 10 plus years, planning and implementing age-appropriate activities for the past 6 years, virtually teaching/tutoring for the past year.I have worked with students in all areas of the spectrum, low risk, high risk, behavioral issues, learning disabilities, I have seen it all and had great success with my students.When it comes to my teaching approach I look at all my students and look at their own individual learning abilities and manipulate the active to fit their needs. No child learns the same way so not all activities should be taught the same way. I believe hands-on approaches are the best way to learn, this way my students see the lesson in an everyday environment and can relate to it.In my class, your student's individual needs WILL be taken into account.When I am not teaching or tutoring I enjoy playing with my 1.5-year-old son Grayson and 3 dogs Bella, Lily, and Art. Countless newspaper crosswords, video games, detective novels and riddles later I noticed that I could teach things to myself and others in the same way I approached these puzzles. Assess, plan, solve and check. Communicating what I know to others is something I have been doing my entire life. From tutoring my peers in math and science to volunteer tutoring immigrant students struggling with English I have been constantly reminded of my love for learning and teaching what I have learned to others. I firmly believe that the methods within the art teaching are flexible. One approach does not work for everyone, so I look for solutions from all angles. I graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and a minor in English. I went on to receive my Masters in medical physiology at Loyola University Chicago. I tutor a wide range of subjects including SAT test preparation, Biology, Math, Chemistry, English and Literature. Although I enjoy tutoring all subjects, I especially enjoy tutoring the sciences (AP and IB) and literature. I think learning is a lifestyle so I constantly work to acquire more knowledge and come up with additional ways to internalize that knowledge. This lifestyle extends outside of my studies.
