I graduated Rutgers University with a B.A. in History and Education (double major) and then earned an M.A. in Social Studies Education from the state institution. I also have 30 credits in middle school literacy and ELA.I have been a classroom teacher for 24 years and have taught from 2nd grade through college. I currently teach high school social studies. I have experience in World and US History (I and II), APUSH, Sociology and Law and Society.I love showing students how interesting (and fun!) history, reading and writing can be. I'm currently a part time stock trader and SAT prep (math) instructor.I went to NC State for my degree in Statistics. Statistics is the science of explaining complex numbers/data into easy to understand language and I'm proud to say I refined that skill to a expert level. This has shaped the very way that I think about things in everyday life. I'm actively aware of language that might be misleading or lack specificity, which will undoubtedly benefit students learning new ideas. I particularly enjoy tutoring principals of Statistics, as its widely dismissed as "too hard".

I am currently an undergraduate student in the School of Engineering at the University of Virginia (UVA), and an alumnus of Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology (TJHSST). I plan to major in Computer Science and minor in Economics. The very first time I got involved in tutoring was in middle school where I participated in a program called Homework Helpers. Since then, I have taken up multiple tutoring/teaching opportunities. For the past 3 years, I have been a teaching assistant at Manabadi, a Telugu school, where I help students learn to read, write, and speak Telugu. Recently, I taught a group of elementary and middle school students the basics of Java (a programming language). While I am open to tutoring a wide range of subjects, I am most passionate about computer science, math, and economics. Through tutoring, and being tutored myself, I have learned that enthusiasm, patience, time management, and relatability are some of the most important qualities of a successful tutoring session. I hope to incorporate these qualities to make every tutoring session a comfortable environment to learn, ask questions, and make mistakes.

I've been involved in research of how unnamed species are related to one another using DNA sequencing of genes (called systematics) for my undergraduate and graduate career, and hence I am very strong in biology, genetics, microbiology and ecology. My passion in science lies in the implementation of modern DNA sequencing technology to study genes and genomes, especially to advance the field of medicine.I have experience tutoring students through the National Science Foundation's Research Experience for Undergraduates program, and I also served for approximately a year as a tutor for Parkland Community College in Champaign, IL, teaching anatomy and physiology, microbiology, general biology, and algebra.I hope to help students with a wide variety of subjects in science and math, especially biology and genetics!
