Without that, there is no real learning. This begins with the relationship between teacher and student. There must first and foremost be trust there, so that the student feels comfortable learning with a particular person. I speak three languages, have traveled extensively and come from a very academically oriented family.

I left high school and entered into college full-time when I was only 14, and transferred to a UC campus as a junior by the time I was 17. I received my Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences at UC Merced, and my Masters in Public Administration at Cal State Long Beach. My academic path has been quite unconventional, but it gave me the opportunity familiarize myself with a wide range of subjects. I am currently continuing my education in the medical sector, and volunteer at a local hospital with some of my spare time. I'm very confident in my ability to tutor all subjects, but I am most experienced in tutoring students in math and science. Based on my experience, students tend to learn best when they're taught to understand concepts, rather than being asked to memorize. During my study breaks, I enjoy swimming, bike riding, cooking and, more importantly, eating.

I recently graduated magna cum laude from UCLA with a BS in Applied Mathematics with a minor in Chinese. I have about two years of experience in tutoring students. I tutor high school and college level mathematics and SAT/ACT preparation. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, the subjects that interest me the most are calculus, college level mathematics, and test prep. I have a calm, adaptive tutoring style. I revise my tutoring strategies to fit each student's unique traits and I believe that a calm demeanor causes students to be less stressed, which in turn improves their performance. I started helping out my neighbors with their English language learning in my native Argentina. Once in college, I would "trade" tutoring sessions with my peers: they would tutor me in math and accounting, and I would tutor them in microeconomics and business studies. What made that fun and empowering, was that, together, we were able to tackle any academic challenge that came our way. We were a team and it made us all better students.After moving to the USA in 1999, I was asked if I would tutor Spanish and I jumped right into it. I have since been tutoring all levels and ages of Spanish, ESL/ELL, Microeconomics, Business Studies and Public Speaking as well as Psychology - I am getting ready to start my Masters in Psychological Studies and have been a psychology buff for more than 2 decades. Born and raised in the beautiful city of Pasadena, Brandon is a first generation college graduate with a passion for math and science specifically astronomy. From a young age he has been inspired by mentors, teachers, Caltech, Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and the nearby Griffith Observatory to continuously study the stars. Eventually he wishes to pursue a PhD in Astrophysics, hoping to advance the knowledge for all humanity. During his undergraduate career he spent most of his afternoons tutoring and assisting teachers at an Elementary school in Malibu focusing primarily on math and science.Another passion of his is volunteering for the YMCA. He has been a summer camp counselor/director for the past 7 years, and just recently became an advisor with the youth government program aimed to develop public speaking/debate skills of high school students. Through his volunteer work he has gained a great appreciation for leading the lives of youth in any capacity he can. In his free time he is a devoted hometown fan of the UCLA Bruins, Dodgers, and Lakers.

My tutoring experience includes mentoring Christian college students during a 2 year post-graduate program, helping primary school kids with homework in an after-school program, and tutoring my high school sister in various subjects.
