I aspire to inspire others to learn and to reach personal goals. I get a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction when I am able to help others and see them progress. I learn from my mistakes and experiences and I believe that guiding others into the right path is one of the best things that you can do.I have previously tutored family members and peers in math and biology. I like helping others learn and guiding them to get the motivation to become independent learners.I studied and received my Bachelors of Science in biology at the University of California Irvine. Biology is one of the greatest passions in my life, everything new that I learn amazes me, and engages me more and more each time.I believe in the healing and preventative powers of food in health thus, I aim to one day become a nutritionist/dietician and help in the fight to diminish cardiovascular diseases among other problems.

I am a Los Angeles area native, and hold a JD from the University of Virginia School of Law, as well as a B.A. in English from Tulane University in New Orleans. I have been a California licensed attorney since December of 2011, and currently practice full-time as a Law Clerk for four Los Angeles Superior Court Judges.Since I finished my undergraduate degree, I have tutored many high school and college students in essay writing and test prep. In particular, I love helping people improve their writing. While there are undoubtedly many great tutors in the area, I believe I bring a unique perspective with my legal writing experience. With this background, I strive to help students not only improve their academic performance in the short term, but also develop the skills they will need in their professional careers.I am available to tutor on weekday afternoons and evenings in and around the Pasadena area where I live with my wife and two children. I also may be able to tutor students near the Downtown area, where I work.Thank you for reading my profile. I hope to work with you in the future!

I've been teaching and tutoring for over fifteen years and to me the most important aspect of teaching is that the student learns how to think for him or herself. Without that, there is no real learning. This begins with the relationship between teacher and student. There must first and foremost be trust there, so that the student feels comfortable learning with a particular person. This is also important for the teacher so they begin to understand how the student thinks, how the student learns and what obstacles to learning the student may or may not possess. My approach is one of rapport, enthusiasm for learning, enthusiasm for the subject matter and one where I guide the student in the right direction, rather than giving them all the answers. Together we'll tackle whatever problems or issues face us and figure it out together. The more we do this, the more the student gains knowledge, confidence and critical thinking skills, all of which will serve the student going forward as an independent thinker and worker.I love to teach, I love to learn and I know my enthusiasm for both comes across when working with a classroom of three hundred students or one on one.I'm a writer and filmmaker by trade. I've been teaching and writing for over twenty years, have a variety of academic and non-academic interests including films, books, sports, music, travel, languages, art, theatre and many more. To be honest, I'm pretty much interested in everything in one way or another, whether it be academic or pop culture related. I speak three languages, have traveled extensively and come from a very academically oriented family.

I left high school and entered into college full-time when I was only 14, and transferred to a UC campus as a junior by the time I was 17. I received my Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences at UC Merced, and my Masters in Public Administration at Cal State Long Beach. My academic path has been quite unconventional, but it gave me the opportunity familiarize myself with a wide range of subjects. I am currently continuing my education in the medical sector, and volunteer at a local hospital with some of my spare time. I'm very confident in my ability to tutor all subjects, but I am most experienced in tutoring students in math and science. Based on my experience, students tend to learn best when they're taught to understand concepts, rather than being asked to memorize. During my study breaks, I enjoy swimming, bike riding, cooking and, more importantly, eating.

I recently graduated magna cum laude from UCLA with a BS in Applied Mathematics with a minor in Chinese. I have about two years of experience in tutoring students. I tutor high school and college level mathematics and SAT/ACT preparation. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, the subjects that interest me the most are calculus, college level mathematics, and test prep. I have a calm, adaptive tutoring style. I revise my tutoring strategies to fit each student's unique traits and I believe that a calm demeanor causes students to be less stressed, which in turn improves their performance. In my spare time, I enjoy following 49ers football and playing obscure computer games.

I have a passion for empowering others become the best they can be. Tutoring has been a part of my life for almost 30 years. I started helping out my neighbors with their English language learning in my native Argentina. Once in college, I would "trade" tutoring sessions with my peers: they would tutor me in math and accounting, and I would tutor them in microeconomics and business studies. What made that fun and empowering, was that, together, we were able to tackle any academic challenge that came our way. We were a team and it made us all better students. After moving to the USA in 1999, I was asked if I would tutor Spanish and I jumped right into it. I have since been tutoring all levels and ages of Spanish, ESL/ELL, Microeconomics, Business Studies and Public Speaking as well as Psychology - I am getting ready to start my Masters in Psychological Studies and have been a psychology buff for more than 2 decades. Writing is another subject that I tutor, specializing in essay writing and creative writing. Assisting students in getting their ideas across while following specific instructions - or just no instructions at all except for 'write something'! - is also one of my strengths.Additionally, I am a strong believer that if you master your study and organizational skills, you can achieve anything!Let me empower you to be the best you can be in your academic assignments and activities. Together we can master them and then celebrate your successes!

I received a B.S. in Business Economics and an M.A. in Classics from the University of Arizona. I am currently working on completing my Ph.D. in Classics at the University of California, Irvine. I have tutored a variety of students, ranging from the elementary to the college level, for the past four years. I primarily tutor subjects relating to the Humanities, such as Ancient Languages, History, and English Composition. My favorite subject to tutor is Latin, since I regard Latin as the most beautiful and intricate of the human languages. When tutoring I first ask for a copy of the course syllabus/schedule, assess the needs, goals, and expectations of the student in the course, and then set up a tutoring system that serves each student's specific situation.

Algebra Tutor • +10 Subjects

I graduated from Harvard University in 2011 with a bachelor's degree in Neurobiology. I am currently working toward a MD at Loma Linda University. My tutoring experience includes mentoring Christian college students during a 2 year post-graduate program, helping primary school kids with homework in an after-school program, and tutoring my high school sister in various subjects. I enjoy tutoring subjects like English, Writing, Critical Reading, Math, and Science. My favorite subject to tutor is writing because I enjoy helping my students come up with ideas and synthesize them in an essay. In my tutoring sessions, I like to encourage my students to find their own solutions to problems, because I believe that the best learning results from self-discovery. My role as a tutor is that of a guide, one that leads the student on the right path to find the answer. I hope to not only impart understanding of the subject material, but also an appreciation for the subject to all my students. Outside of academics, my hobbies include going to church gatherings, running, and singing.
