I graduated from Northern Arizona University with Bachelor's Degrees in Physics and Astronomy. Mathematics is an important part of both fields and my strong suit. Consequently, I have a minor in Mathematics that I have applied to my work on endless occasions. My math background encompasses basic subjects like algebra, geometry, and calculus up through advanced subjects such as linear algebra, multivariable calculus, differential equations, and advanced geometry. During my senior year I received a NASA Space Grant and began research with the U.S. Geological Survey Astrogeology Research Center in Flagstaff, AZ. This project eventually became my Master's Thesis.I graduated a second time from Northern Arizona University with a Master's Degree in Applied Physics. My research emphasis was planetary science, which allowed me to become very involved with the U.S.G.S. My planetary studies required me to not only focus on the physics of planets, but also on their geology. As such, I have a broad range of academic backgrounds, including astronomy, astrobiology, field geology, and geomorphology. I've even assisted in research at the Sudbury Impact Structure in Ontario, Canada and attended numerous scientific conferences.During my graduate studies I taught three different lab courses: Mechanics, Electricity and Magnetism, and Life in the Universe. These were intended for non-physics-major students, so I have had extensive practice in bringing even the most advanced concepts down to a level that any student can understand. The lab courses were also relatively small (between 10 and 20 students). The small class sizes allowed me to learn to teach with hands-on methods as well as lecture-style methods, many times in a one-on-one setting.I love to teach, plain and simple. To witness a student truly understand a concept is very rewarding for both the student and the teacher. They say knowledge is power. Then to understand the universe (even just a small fraction of it) is power, indeed. SCIENCE!!!

My name is Janeth (also known as Nidia). I attended Arizona State University for both my undergrad and masters degree. My undergrad is in Family and Human Development and my masters is in Infant and Family Pratice. I'm currently attending Medical school, for this I've taken may science courses as a pre-requisite to get into Medical school and currently taking several science classes with the majority being science classes. My goal is to become a Naturopathic Medical Doctor and inspire others to live a healthier life. I love to teach and make things easier to understand. Teaching should be tailored to the individual's needs, goals and strengths. I believe that knowledge is a gift that we have and can share with others. Throughout the years I have been able to help people in various science courses ranging from anatomy, physiology, Spanish and other various courses.

Having taught at the junior high and high school and junior college both on the East Coast and Midwest, from big schools in the inner city to small schools in the small town to learners from every ethnicity and background, I feel uniquely qualified to teach students those skills that will help them meet the challenges they will face. Of course, because I like to both write and read, open always to explore avenues in either discipline: these habits have become attributes that I can impart to the learner.

I am currently taking my last class at Grand Canyon University and then I will be starting my student teaching in the fall. I will be graduating with my Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education, with a Science endorsement. I have been working a Tempe Elementary Schools for the last three years as a personal assistant. My job was to support a child with Down Syndrome how was in all general education classes. When my student did not need help I would walk around the class and help out the other students in the class. I would also take small groups of students and work on what ever it was the teacher wanted me to work on. I enjoy teaching, it is most definitely a passion of mine. I love being apart of those ah ha moments. My teaching philosophy is that every kids can learn if given the tools to succeed. In my off time you will find me camping and fishing with my four kids, I love to be in the outdoors. I also love to play and watching sports. As of right right now I am on three softball teams and one football team.

Since graduation, I have worked in public accounting and tutoring individuals from elementary school ages through young adults in a variety of subjects. While I tutor a broad range of subjects, I am most experienced in Mathematics but have a strong base for English and Essay Writing. I believe a well rounded education is important for success in life and a strong understanding of Mathematics is necessary.
