Education has been my passion from a very young age. I have been working with students in various capacities for over 16 years and I would trade it for nothing in this world. I am a graduate of William Paterson University, where I obtained my Bachelor's in English. After which I pursued my Master's in Education at the University of Phoenix.I am excited to provide tutoring services in English Reading/Writing and also in SAT Prep. There is no day that I do not walk away from students feeling a sense of accomplishment, knowing that I have touched lives and my life have also been changed. I believe that this profession is mutually rewarding as students and teachers alike are able to bring something to the table and walk away sometimes feeling transformed, other times refreshed. It never ceases to amaze me how wonderful and unexpected each new experience can turn out to be. One this is for certain, this is undoubtedly the best career in the world. Outside of teaching, I love the outdoors, animals, and traveling.

I am a recent graduate of James Madison University, with a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs! My passion for tutoring began at the end of my Sophomore year, when I was invited to work at the James Madison University Writing Center as a Peer Writing Consultant. I stayed at the UWC until my graduation in May 2020, upon which I returned home and continued working with the youth at Huntington Learning Centers in Morristown,NJ; in October of 2020, I was recognized as Teacher of the Month. While I am interested in a broad range of subjects, I am most passionate about English (reading and writing) and History. With certifications and training in Standardized Test Prep, I've loved working with students towards their goals and experiencing their growth first-hand! I have found the process to be so incredibly rewarding, and am passionate about building connections that allow the student to enjoy it as well.

I come from a family of seven kids, surrounded by other families who had anywhere from seven to twelve kids! Born to be a babysitter, I often helped most of the kids through homework problems, teaching little ones how to read and proof-reading the papers for the older ones. This early start at what I soon realized was tutoring/teaching led me to attend graduate school at Drew University where I am earning my Masters in Teaching degree with certifications in English and theatre. Before enrolling in the Masters program, I graduated from Drew with a Theatre major, plus two minors in music and arts administration. I enjoy tutoring any subject; I am the type of person that gets happy about little things and as long as I can help a student understand something, I am enjoying the process. Because of that, one day, tutoring writing may be my favorite while another day all I want to do is to keep working on reading comprehension.Besides teaching and getting through my graduate program, I am devoted to playing rugby, making music, singing and playing my ukulele any chance I get. Student personal interests are also just as important to me to know about, in addition to their academic inclinations and abilities. I am excited to incorporate personal interests and aspirations into tutoring sessions so that no matter how tedious work can feel, there is always a bit of interest to keep everyone motivated!

I am a rising junior at Rutgers New Brunswick, majoring in Biological Sciences. I am part of the Honors College as well as the Douglass Residential College through Rutgers. I will be attending Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School next year through the Accelerated BA/MD program after I finish my junior year. Due to my interest in science and desire to work with people, I've developed a passion for science education and health care. I especially love to tutor biology because it is my favorite subject. The subject of biology gives us an insight into every living organism and process and how they work, including our own bodies. Having that understanding of how life works is fascinating to me and I'd love to inspire others to feel the same way. Similarly, all subjects in S.T.E.M. serve us a purpose of understanding how our physical world works, which is a powerful thing to know. My understanding of these subjects and my love for them are part of how I found my passion for medicine. By helping students understand and appreciate science rather than be intimidated by it, I hope to unlock similar passions for other students. Through peer tutoring and mentoring, I have always had a positive experience with students, which is further facilitated by my understanding of student struggles as a current student myself. Those experiences have helped me define a teaching philosophy and style founded upon understanding over memorization, patience, encouragement, and the use of outside resources to enhance learning.Aside from the educational sphere I love to dance, and have been doing so for the past 11 years. On campus, I am actively involved in the Rutgers community as the Treasurer of the RU Natya Indian Classical Dance team. In the past year, I have had the opportunity to travel to places like Seattle and Dallas with my team, also winning several collegiate dance competitions along the way. I am also the Health Center Events Chair for Reach Out and Read (ROAR), a club that aims to promote childhood literacy by volunteering at the local health center and educating families about the importance of reading. I love to spend time with kids at the health center, helping them read and teaching them about lifestyle habits. I am also a Senior Mentor through HC Ally, acting as a peer mentor and resource for Honors College freshmen looking for help navigating the college experience. In the future, I hope to pursue a career in children's medicine as well as travel the world.

I am a Ph.D. Candidate in Medieval European History at the Catholic University of America, which means that I am a life-long learner who believes in the power of the humanities. My greatest attributes as a teacher are my patience, empathy, and humor - and of course my memory for random historical facts! I am originally from Columbus, Ohio and moved to Boston in 1999 to attend Boston University. There, I majored in History and English and minored in French, receiving my B.A. in 2003. I went on to receive an M.A. in Medieval History from Catholic University in Washington D.C. in 2007, and my Ph.D. dissertation, which is on religious women in 15th century Italy, is slated for completion in 2014. I currently reside in the New York City area as I finish researching and writing my thesis. I have taught World History (101-102), Medieval Europe and Pre-Modern Historical Seminar at the University level. My most recent teaching position was at Harvard as a teaching fellow for a class called Making the Middle Ages. Doing history well means being a convincing writer, and I have experience helping students at all levels write with both substance and style. In addition to perfecting English language skills for tests or essays, I love sharing knowledge about other languages like French, Latin, and Italian. Since I study a period that can be confusing - in languages other than my own- I am good at figuring out how to present complex material using diverse and engaging methods. Each of us has a different way in which we learn best and no way is better than another! As far as my interests outside of academia, I have a true passion for theatre. My performance experience helps me to be an outgoing and enthusiastic instructor who excels at both strictly organized lectures and more improvisational lessons. I have held numerous positions in arts non-profits in both Boston and D.C., as I love having jobs that support the community and promote creativity. In such customer service positions I have learned to communicate with people from all walks of life in a down-to-earth way. Thus, I have become a great listener, a quick problem-solver, and a better teacher. I look forward to using these skills to to create a unique and challenging tutoring plan centered around your needs.

I am a graduate from University of Michigan's College of Engineering. Since graduation, I have worked in strategy consulting and private equity. Despite a career in consulting, I was able to take the GMAT and score in the 98th percentile. I am eager to share the strategies, resources and test-taking habits that worked best for me with students interested in taking this exam. I can provide a solid foundation, and help students improve their scores across all sections (Quant, Verbal, AWA, IR for GMAT and SAT Math) - during my preparation, I provided guidance to my colleagues and friends to achieve their target scores.

I got graduated from Catholic University of Peru in the city of Lima, Peru. I received my bachelor degree in Accounting last year. After my graduation, I moved to the US looking forward to study a Master related to Financial Accounting and Reporting. Moreover, I came from a family that highly values education which it has been an important source of inspiration to me. So that, I started tutoring people since my classmates through adults wishing to improve their Spanish, English and Mathematics level, which I really enjoy those subjects besides accounting. In my experience, I figured out that my students have a lot of motivation to study as a team in a good atmosphere. I consider myself an immigrant who believes education is a source of progress and personal development as a citizen, and I try to share that message to everybody. In my free time, I prefer cooking, seeing movies, swimming and dancing salsa.

I received my bachelors in History at Southwestern University in Texas. While completing my bachelors I worked at a museum as apart of my internship. That is when I felt my calling to education. I loved doing walking tours and teaching people about our little museum. I decided than, that I should get my Master's in Secondary Education at Grand Canyon University. I am seeking a full time job teaching Social Studies but in the meantime I work as a paraprofessional. I love helping students achieve their educational goals. I have a wide variety of experiences working in the academic world. My specialty is Social Studies but I am able to help in many other subjects.

I currently teach English Special Education in a high school setting. I've worked with many students with varying disabilities. I am able to differentiate instruction so that all of my students' learning goals can be met. I received my Bachelors in English at Montclair State University. Shortly after, I received my Master of the Art of Teaching degree at Montclair State. I hold two certifications, English and Teacher of Students with Disabilities. Before teaching, I served as a mentor and English tutor to college students. I enjoy working with students because I love to see students become actively engaged in their thinking. I believe that the classroom is a great place to practice collaboration, social skills and metacognition while inviting students to advocate for themselves. One of my favorite quotes is "if a student can't learn the way we teach, maybe we should teach the way they learn" by Ignacio Estrada. This statement holds true to the fact that all students can learn. We need to be appreciative of the diverse ways our students think and create meaning.
