I am an graduate from the University of Utah. I received a degree in Kinesiology major and a minor in Chemistry with an emphasis on Pre-Medical studies. While attending the University of Utah I have sought out many different opportunities and programs that will allow me to become more well-rounded, work with people from all populations, find out what I enjoy, and apply the knowledge I have learned in school. Programs such as: UFIT- a program that works with kids with disabilities to help them grow cognitively, socially, and functionally; Worked in UNI- the neuropsychiatric institute; Currently work in the Inpatient Medical Rehabilitation unit at the University Hospital. Also, through out my undergrad I have gained experience tutoring from having a lot of my friends come to me to help them in the hard sciences I have already taken. In tutoring, I have found that the "eureka!" moment happens from going back to the basics, finding that disconnect of knowledge, and filling it in. I like to break down each component of the question and make sure my students understand what it's asking, what it's assuming, and how we're going to find our answer. Through my experience of teaching I have found that this way works the best. Being able to break down and translate the hard concepts into more common terms and analogies is what I think really breaks that confusion barrier and allows learning to start.

I graduated from the University of Oregon and received a B.S. in Chemistry with departmental honors (2013-2016). My favorite subjects to teach include general chemistry and organic chemistry. I enjoy teaching because most times the subject is underappreciated. Teaching allows me to be the spokesperson for subjects and I can improve the relationship students have with difficult subjects. Recently, I have been a teaching assistant for chemistry labs and begung to shape my teaching style. The way I engage students is by having students bring questions to me, so we can discuss the problem. I typically prefer to have discussions over lectures because it is more engaging for students to have conversations about the material than listen to me talk about the subject. When students bring me questions, I normally will break the question into smaller chunks to help the student identify the hardest part of the problem. Once the problem is identified we would discuss this problem to make sure the issue is resolved. This method helps maximize the usefulness of the sessions by making the student aware of their weak points, so they can improve outside of the tutorting sessions. Outside of academia I indulge in the outdoors by running, swimming, snorkeling, hiking, and snowboarding.

From my own experience, I have seen that when a student is ready to learn, the teacher is then able to teach. Unfortunately I have also seen that when students do not want to learn, a teacher cannot teach them anything. For this reason, I want to provide a good environment for students so they have a desire to learn. With their true desires, I will provide good quality lessons which will teach and inspire further language development.

I am in my senior year studying to get a bachelor's in Physics Education with a Math Education minor through BYU Idaho. I'm currently student teaching in Physics at a high school in Utah, and will finish with student teaching and with my degree in April! For as long as I can remember, I have loved math and science, especially the problem-solving side of it. If I had to pick a favorite subject to teach, it would probably be algebra, because I have had the most experience tutoring this subject, and because I love the logic of it. Logic puzzles and sudoku puzzles are my favorite things to do on a long car ride when I'm not singing along to the radio! Besides singing, I also enjoy being with friends, whether that be inside playing games, or outside swimming and hiking and being adventurous. I've been tutoring on my own for the last 8 years, in both math and science, and have had lots of different learning experiences with it! Every student and tutoring session has been unique, and has helped me learn and grow as a tutor and future teacher. I've tutored mostly middle and high school students, but have also had small experiences tutoring elementary school and college students.

I'm all about problem solving; whether designing drugs, computer applications, or basic chemistry and math problems it all starts with the same steps:A) What do I know?B) What do I want to know?C) How do I get from A to B?I did PhD research in computational chemistry and dream of becoming a middle school math teacher if I win the lottery.PS - My online sessions will frequently be monitored by my chihuahua, Piper. She's quiet, but expect a pop-by :)

I love music and science. I earned my master's degree in Biology from Kasetsart, one of Thailand's foremost universities. I learned to play piano from a young age, and piano has been my passion ever since. We didn't have a piano in our home so I would practice in a church building or go over to a friend's home and learn from them at every opportunity. Eventually, I was able to prove myself and, through the support of others, got a piano and formal training from an accredited institution, eventually studying with the head music department of a leading university.I was able to give back and started teaching others. I have taught over 25 piano students each week both at home and at a music school in Bangkok. I sent many of them for the piano examination (Trinity Guildhall) and they passed their tests. Depending on the work they put through some will pass with honor, merit, or passed. This is how I was able to support myself while I continued my studies at university.I have been teaching now for 19 years. I understand how to help students find that piano is so simple and easy to learn through bite-sized lessons. When I teach, I learn more about my students, and what interests them, so I can tailor lessons to ignite their interests. When the students are very young, parental support is needed.I continue my studies in both music and science to this day. Continuing study helps find new ideas and techniques to help students thrive in their learning. Continuing to study helps me stay in touch with being a student. I found entertainment in discovering new perspectives and reviewing the principles. I am a proponent of continuing education. I strongly believe that it helps improve the quality of life and society. I try to share that with all of my students. In my spare time, I hike, do weights, and swim with my workout buddies.

I recently graduated from college, with a degree in math. Personally, I love maths, because everything in math is logical, and maths is the most fundamental subject for a lot of things. Here are some of the classes I have taken: Calculus 1, 2, 3, Discrete Mathematics, Linear Algebra, Intro to Data Structures, Projective Geometry, Advanced Calculus, Abstract Algebra, Bayesian Data Analysis, etc. I have tutored colleges students in maths for more than two years now. I managed to explain and clarify math theories, address and keep track of each tutee's weak points and help them finish their class successfully. I also tutored Chinese in college; not only did I help the students understand the language but also the culture.

Some people can naturally figure things out without a lot of explanation. In most things, I'm not that guy! Like many students, understanding comes with repetition of principles and hard work. I have the perspective of a student trying to understand, not a teacher trying to preach. I love working with people from the ground up; we start at the comfort zone and work our way to improvement. I know I don't know everything, so I'm excited to learn as well!
