My name is Seth and I am an instructor of Chemical Engineering at New Mexico Tech. I also tutor high school math and science at several area high schools.I left an industry job in semiconductors to work with students, and I have not regretted it once! I love teaching and tutoring.I am also a technical writer for several engineering publications, such as Automation Control and GlobalSpec.

I recently graduated from Saint Mary's College of Notre Dame where I received a Bachelor's of Science. I majored in Chemistry and minored in Biology and received an American Chemical Society certified degree. This fall I am attending graduate school at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign to receive my PhD in Analytical Chemistry. Someday I want to work for a biotech or pharmaceutical company. My tutoring experience has been unique because I have tutored students ranging from second grade to senior year college students where I primarily cover STEM (Science, Math, Engineering, and Technology) concepts. Recently, I have been a TA in chemistry and biology college level courses. My hands on experience has helped me become a better teacher because I use many different types of real world examples for students to learn and grasp concepts. I know every student can achieve greatness through hard work and when someone supports them along the way. In my spare time, I enjoy going for walks, listening to music, watching Netflix, and being outdoors.

I love math and I love science. Math and science are two areas of study that I take pride in knowing. They are the study of the world around us and how it works to the most minute detail. That fascinates me. So much so that I achieved a Bachelor of Science Degree in chemistry. It is my goal to put this same kind of passion, drive and excitement in all those around me. Hailing from a grandmother and mother who are both public school teachers, my passion for mentorship and tutoring started at a young age and my new degree from the University of Colorado - Boulder allows me to better help students in need.

I received my BS (2010) in Engineering Mechanics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and my MS (2012) and PhD (2016) degrees in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. During my time as an undergraduate I ran discussion sections twice per week for students enrolled in Engineering Dynamics where I provided brief lectures and supplemental problem sets for students looking for extra help outside of the lectures. In graduate school, I continued working in academics as a teaching assistant for a senior level composite mechanics course. Also in graduate school, I served as the laboratory manager for the Composites Manufacturing Laboratory on campus were I instructed hundreds of students on the basics of fabricating composite parts for a variety of applications including vehicle wing elements, rocket casings, and sporting goods. When tutoring a student, I prefer to learn what motivates them to be successful and where their passion lies with a subject. My passion is for understanding the world around me through engineering, math, and science, so I prefer and enjoy tutoring those subjects above all else. Outside of academics, I enjoy making music, running, and playing ultimate frisbee.

I am a senior at Brigham Young University (BYU) pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with minors in Chinese, Mathematics, and Physics.I have worked part-time as a teaching assistant in the Physics department at BYU for upwards of six semesters, so I have a large amount of experience helping students understand difficult concepts in physics and other STEM subjects. As such, my primary subjects that I tutor are STEM subjects, especially math, physics, and other subjects within the realm of mechanical engineering.I love helping students understand difficult concepts. One of my joys in life is seeing the "light bulb come on" when a student makes the connection that helps them understand a previously incomprehensible problem.My tutoring style involves asking a student questions to guide their own discovery of the solution to the problem they are facing.

I am a lover of all things STEM. I believe in helping students help themselves. I have a lot of experience working with students as young as 4th grade all the way up to high school and college. STEM is more than just knowledge, it is practical skills that we all use everyday.
