Hi, my name is Kennadie Halliday! I'm a sophomore at Brigham Young University, majoring in Editing and Publishing. My favorite movie is Star Wars Episode VI, my favorite music is classic rock, my favorite book series is 100 Cupboards, and my favorite food is Chinese (the American version). I'm so excited to guide some students along the path of academic excellence, and to prove to them just how awesome they are along the way!

I am a graduate of Sinclair Community College, the University of Dayton, and Cleveland State University. I have an Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts from Sinclair Community College, a Bachelor of Arts in English with a Spanish minor from the University of Dayton, and a Master of Arts in English from Cleveland State University. Over the last decade, I have tutored numerous community college students at two community colleges in the state of Ohio. While I tutored primarily English and Spanish courses, I have tutored many courses in the Liberal Arts curriculum, including History, Political Science, and other Modern Languages. I especially enjoy tutoring anything that combines any number of these subjects together, as I am a firm believer that writing and literature are a part of culture and are a reflection of it. As a tutor, I like to help students build connection with their subject and its relevance in the wider world. Furthermore, I want to provide of how one's academic pursuits can infuse other parts of one's life. My style of tutoring is student-driven; I like to adapt to an individual student while utilizing skills I have learned through my tutoring experience and my learning experience. In my spare time, I am often writing, reading, watching baseball, and engaging with media as literature. I never stop the pursuit of knowledge.

I'm originally from Houston, and I've moved back home to begin my engineering career after graduating from the University of Arizona. While I was in school, I spent time tutoring fellow students in math and logic classes. Doing this I found that I really enjoy helping people learn and overcome obstacles.After I learn a bit about my students I try to adapt my teaching style to fit their learning style, auditory/visual/etc. I strive to generate those 'lightbulb' moments, when suddenly it all clicks "everything seems so simple now!" Doing well in a subject was not always the easiest thing for me. Despite this, I decided to become a tutor because the last thing I ever wanted was for someone else to feel as if they were inadequate or to have someone encounter an instance of rushed tutoring. I have now been tutoring for a little over 4 years and have gained much experience along the way. Throughout these years, I learned to adjust to the students needs along with being able to be have them set a tutoring session at their own pace.

Hello! I grew up traveling between the East Coast and various countries overseas, went to school at Union University, and then moved to Houston. I am just starting graduate work at Vermont College of Fine Arts. During my undergraduate years, I tutored for several different families and also worked with fellow college students who were struggling to make it in their classes. I have tutored in standardized test preparation, time management, history, geography, English, writing, and all elementary school subjects. Since eleventh grade, when I taught some neighborhood kids how to write essays and craft short stories, I have loved the one-on-one element of tutoring because I have the chance to really get to know a student, and then based on the student's learning style, teach them how to succeed. It's so much fun to build relationships with students and walk with them through the process until they realize: I can do this! I have always love facilitating learning experiences. When I was a little kid, I taught my sisters the capitals and countries of Africa using ridiculous mnemonics. It worked. Now we're grown up and married, and we still remember which capital goes with which country.In my free time, I do basic literacy work with bilingual elementary students from low-income backgrounds, and I also volunteer with refugees. I speak four languages, and am learning Spanish now. I enjoy baking bread, making ice coffee, playing piano, hanging out with kids, running, writing, and reading.

I have been teaching young people to speak German since I was twenty seven years old. From age twenty-one on, I have been learning German. After all of these years, learning and teaching are still part of what my students and I do every day, and I love it.I started speaking German in August of 1991. I was twenty-one years old, had a decent grasp of Spanish, despite not having had any formal training, and I heard the German professor was great, so I decided to learn German. Within a few weeks, I had found my new favorite subject, and I've been hooked ever since. I love seeing my students go from being shy children, to young adults able to navigate their way around German speaking countries, without fear or apprehension. I love listening to my students speak to each other, and their German counterparts in German, and I love seeing their non-German-speaking peers look at them with envy, although they would never say anything.Mostly, I love the fact that students go from an isolated American, to a person with genuine contact and opportunity in a part of the world, about which they had only previously heard, and much of that knowledge contained only part of the story, when it comes to the richness of Germanic culture.

I am looking forward to working with students of a variety of ages and stages in their education and feel well prepared to help with math, science, clinical/medical, public health, health policy, and related subjects (with certain others being of particular interest to me given my competency in them as a result of my academic and professional background).

I am in the field of education since 1992 and teaching students at all levels. I have taught students with special needs for more than 10 years, I served as a teacher evaluator for the school district and currently i am teaching gifted students. I have multiple Masters Degrees in various discipline which makes my teaching versatile.My strength lies in teaching students reading and Math. My students brag about me and wish I would be their life-time teacher because they understand better when I teach them the concepts.I differentiate my instruction to meet individual needs, as a result, students are able to perform successfully and grasping the concepts thoroughly. Teaching is my passion and I wish to continue sharing my passion with children for as long as I can.
