I am a graduate of Texas A&M University. I received my Bachelor of Science in Sociology and then continued to pursue my teacher certifications. After graduation, I decided to become a Flight Attendant and travel the different parts of the globe, giving me a better understanding of different cultures and customs. I have taught Elementary School and Middle School for 10 years. I am certified in Early Childhood- 4th grade, all subjects, and 4-8th grade all subjects. I have several years of experience with ESL and SPED students. I tutor and facilitate classes for a broad range of subjects. I am most passionate about Science and Math. I am a firm proponent of education, believing it to be necessary for an improved quality of life, and I try to impart this appreciation to all of my students. In my spare time, I enjoy playing with my children, watching movies, trying new foods, and crafting!

I love exploring all of the cool things that this world has to offer. By dabbling in a little of everything I can set my sights on what really holds my attention. My primary interests lie in the sciences, where learning what makes our world turn drives my passion for knowledge.I believe that successful tutoring involves assessing how a student learns and adapting my teaching style to best fit the needs of the student. In this manner a student can learn in a way that seems to come naturally and allows knowledge to flow more seamlessly. In October 2017, I departed for Ziguinchor, Senegal to be an U.S. Fulbright English Teaching Assistant for nine months. I assisted teachers in a secondary school to improve foreign students' English language abilities.I began my teaching career in 2011 as a chess teacher in Alabama. Since then, I completed English teacher training in Sierra Leone as a Peace Corps Volunteer, worked as a classroom aide in a special needs school, taught English and chess at a Moroccan youth center (using French), and volunteered as a chess coach.From my experiences, I understand the importance of being prepared but flexible when explaining concepts. I love to engage students by doing hands-on and engaging activities. I believe that encouragement and patience are essential for the student's success, something I strive for. My classroom techniques, which incorporate these skills, were effective enough that I received special recognition after six months of working at St. Coletta, a special needs school. The success of the activity depended on a great deal of preparation, innovation, engagement, enthusiasm, and encouragement. These skills are easily transferable to tutoring sessions to enrich the student's learning experience. I enjoy contributing to a student's learning and growth, and hope to do so as a Varsity tutor.

I am a natural science lover. I enjoy biology, botany and earth sciences. Ancient world history is my forte. I have studied and taught about Ancient Mesopotamia, Greece, Rome, Egypt, China, Mexico, Peru, and India. I have even traveled to many of these countries to visit ancient sites and see the actual artifacts in museums.
