I am pursuing dual Master's degrees from the University of Texas in Public Health and Social Work. As a born-and-raised Austinite, my interests include practicing yoga, sampling local food trailers, attending live concerts, and – perhaps most of all – cheering on my beloved Texas Longhorns in football.

I'm a graduate of Shiraz University, and I grew up in Shiraz, Iran. I came to the USA in 2009 and I am trying to transfer to dental school. While I tutor a variety of subjects, math is easily my favorite. I love basic math, algebra, calculus and everything in between, and it shows in my work. My mom was a teacher, and she helped me to pick up my first problem solving position in high school. Since then, I've worked with students from ninth grade to adults returning to the classroom, students struggling to pass to students wanting to attend (or get into!) a special high school or college. I am a math and science tutor at Austin Community College as well as a DAT (Dental Admission Test) instructor for Kaplan Test Preparation. Most students come to me for math, but I've also worked with standardized test preparation, chemistry, biology, physics, statistics, and time management. Math and science classes are really just elaborate puzzles to solve, and most of my students learn to enjoy the process of figuring out what to do once I help them develop the confidence and skill set they need to be successful. Not everyone loves science courses, especially math but I do, and it's contagious. In my free time, I like to explore Austin with my friends: from coffee shops to parks to museums. This is a really fun city! I also enjoy listening to all kinds of music, swimming and reading a good book.

I am “HQ” (Highly Qualified) certified to teach Social Studies for grades 7-12. I currently teach a sophomore level ethics class at St. Edwards University. I taught several classes at The University of Texas at Austin as a Doctoral Candidate, where I also earned my M.A. in Philosophy. At the University of Southern California, I earned my B.A. with Departmental Honors along with the Discovery Scholar’s award for excellence in independent research. I have been tutoring and teaching for eleven years, with a primary emphasis on developing my students’ writing and critical thinking skills.

I am a recent graduate of Cornell University, where I acquired a B.S. and M.Eng in Electrical and Computer Engineering and a minor in Computer Science. I've enjoyed assisting in education for as long as I can remember (cheesy, I know); I loved being a little "teacher's assistant" at my grandmother's preschool in Guatemala as a child. I tutored my peers a little bit in high school. While at university, I was a teaching assistant for Intro Digital Logic for 6 semesters, where I was energized by guiding students to the a-ha moments that led me to pursue a career in computer architecture.

I am third year medical resident in Family Medicine and was born and raised in a family of teachers and educators. I really enjoy learning and teaching and the process of deconstructing things down to their most digestible parts. I am a big advocate of making things fun and trying to bring the material to life. Prior to University, I spent my spare time spreading environmental awareness to elementary students, coaching middle school basketball teams, and guiding nascent MathCounts and Science Olympiad programs. Since arriving at UT Austin, I have had the privilege of teaching a classroom of middle schoolers for a semester as part of the UTeach Outreach program. I am most passionate about Math, Computer Science, and the college application process. In my experience helping struggling students prepare their applications for admissions, I have had the most fun reviewing essays and revising resumes. I also enjoy sharing tips and tricks to solving any Standardized Math Test questions! I truly believe education is the key to a better future, and it cannot be taken for granted because of the unequal opportunities that others face. Last year, I taught discussion sections for a UT American literature course, and previously I worked as a teaching assistant for classes on introductory academic writing, U.S. history, and American culture. While I tutor a range of subjects, I especially love demystifying standardized tests and helping students improve their reading and writing skills. In my free time, I enjoy reading speculative fiction, creative writing, and cooking new recipes.
