I have worked with students ranging from the 3rd grade to Undergraduate coursework. I love helping students of all ages as I am passionate about the topics I love to tutor. I received by B.S. in Life Sciences, summa cum laude, from Arizona State University. I am currently a fourth year medical student at the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Phoenix pursuing my M.D. Some of the subjects I tutor include Biology, Microbiology, Physiology, Life Sciences, Pharmacology, MCAT Biological Sciences, Graduate Test Prep and Cell Biology. Some of my favorite subjects to tutor would have to be MCAT Biological sciences and Life Sciences. These subjects are near and dear to me as I recently (2011) took the MCAT exam for entrance into medical school and my undergraduate major was in Life Sciences. I enjoy engaging with students and helping to lead them to the correct answer and understanding of concepts through a question and answer process. Outside of school I love to hike, bike, and golf. You can typically find me outdoors on a day off!

I graduated from California Lutheran University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. I am now pursuing my Doctorate of Pharmacy at the University of Arizona. To start things off, I love tutoring, and I have been doing it for many years. I have been told by many of my students that I am one of the nicest, most patient tutors they have ever had, and that is something I always strive to hold myself to. I am a math and science man by nature, and those are the subjects I most enjoy tutoring. For Math and Chemistry, I believe in trying as many problems as possible to learn all of the various tricks associated with them, as well as going over the different concepts to make sure that the basics are fully understood. For Biology, I use a similar style, but with more emphasis on making sure the concepts are as easily understood as possible to facilitate easier learning and memorization. Finally, on a personal level, I enjoy doing just about everything. I played water polo in high school, swam throughout high school and into my first two years of college, and played ultimate frisbee for the last two years. I also enjoy everything from playing video games every once in a while to going out on a relaxing hike on the weekends with friends.

I received a Bachelors of Arts in Biology and a minor in Public Health from Temple University in 2010. In May of this year, I received a Masters Degree in Biological Sciences from Drexel University. During my time at Drexel University, I worked as a teaching assistant for a graduate level Anatomy course for a year. This included assisting students with cadaver dissections in gross lab, and tutoring students for the didactic portion of the course. Anatomy is not only my favorite course to tutor in, but also my favorite subject in biology. I find I never get bored teaching Anatomy, because even though we all have similar basic anatomical structures, no two bodies are alike. Although I am very passionate about learning, I make sure all my students have fun. During a typical tutoring session, I try to incorporate videos, textbooks, and models to help the student stay engaged. I make my sessions interactive in hopes of creating an environment where students can learn the material in a style that is most effective for them. In addition to Anatomy, I also tutor Physiology, Biology, General Chemistry, Physics, and elementary math. When I am not working as a tutor I love to travel, play music, and spend time with my friends.

I am interested in bettering your educational experience in the Life Sciences, Chemistry, and Math! If you or your child is struggling with math or science courses or, perhaps, is preparing for a standardized test that requires application knowledge in these areas then I may be the guy for you! I am also interested in tutoring individuals who are working towards acceptance into a professional school that might have been out of school for a while.I have experience in private tutoring to elementary/middle school through college level students in math and the sciences and have helped many achieve goals that seemed unattainable. I have done this by establishing what areas of the subject are most troubling to students and focusing on them by using a variety of different sources. I have many textbooks and class notes, manuals, etc. that the students can use to have multiple viewpoints on the same subject.I also believe that a person learns best when they are able to recap and teach the subject to another individual. Therefore, I provide not only the details in a subject, but also a bigger picture motif that enables the student to make real-life connections with what they are learning and gives them enough understanding to be able to "teach" the topic. As someone who recently graduated Arizona State University with a B.S. in Microbiology, I understand the hardships that many students must face in large classroom learning environments and so I can relate to younger or more mature adult students. I have much experience in working in a lab setting where application and science work in tandem so I realize the necessity in flexibility and the importance in explaining the exceptions to the rules that we learn in science. My studies have led me to pursue a career in dentistry and I will be beginning dental school at UCLA in the fall so I am also an ideal candidate for more specialized test prep. such as for the DAT, OAT, PCAT, and MCAT. I am also available for ACT test prep. and I am flexible and open to new endeavors and experiences!

Growing up in the Ozark Mountains of Missouri gave me a deep love and appreciation of nature and science. So I obtained my Bachelor's degree in Biology with a Chemistry minor from Missouri State University. I have used my degree to work in science research labs, museums, and as a teacher. I have been teaching for over fifteen years and have had great student success in the classroom as well as with my tutoring clients. As a National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT), I strive to continue to master new methods to ensure student success. In addition, I have obtained multiple state teaching certifications, completed over thirty-six graduate hours in Biomedical Science and I am scheduled to finish a graduate degree in Curriculum and Instruction this fall.I was lucky enough to be selected to work with NASA in 2011 where I led a team of teachers that flew a classroom experiment in Zero-Gravity. The "Worms in Space" experiment allowed me to fly for over ninety minutes on the amazing flight and the experience still inspires my work today. I have been honored by receiving several "teacher of the year" awards from various local, state, and national organizations.I am excited to be able to do the work that I love - and that is teaching students to better understand the world in which they live by learning science and math concepts. My favorite subjects to tutor are Biology, AP Biology, Anatomy, and Physiology but I am very confident and enjoy teaching Earth Science, Physical Science and Chemistry. As a leaner myself, I recognize that each learner has unique ways in which they learn. I am a very kinesthetic (hands-on)learner, meanwhile others may be visual, artistic, musical, logical, etc. As I teacher and tutor I find it best serves a student to tap into their natural intelligence and build knowledge and skills upon that existing foundation. My passion, knowledge, and experience helps me insure that each student will learn to the best of their abilities.

I graduated from Emory University in 2014 with a BS degree in Neuroscience. Since then, I have started medical school at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University. Given my strong science background, I feel most comfortable tutoring the life sciences, but I am also interested in tutoring Math, French, and Reading/Writing, including editing papers for content as well as grammar and syntax. I try to take a personable approach to tutoring, helping others relate the material to their own interests in order to help bridge the gap between one's own knowledge and a seemingly confusing realm of material. Together, we can work towards fostering an interest in lifelong learning, while keeping the material fun and engaging along the way. Apart from my studies, I'm passionate about dance, having dabbled in various forms of South Asian dance including Bollywood, garba/raas, bhangra, and classical, and I also like to cook and travel to new places.

I completed my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, with a minor in English, at Rochester College in Michigan. I am pursuing a post-Bachelor certificate in Dietetics at Virginia State University. Having both school experiences has given me exposure to a wide variety of subjects. I also have diverse tutoring experience. I tutored peers in Writing, Math and Statistics as an undergrad, pre-kindergarteners to adults in reading comprehension, phonics, math and test prep at a learning center in Michigan, and, most recently, reading, writing and standardized test preparation to a variety of students here in Virginia. I don't have a favorite subject or age group to work with; the more variety, the better. I enjoy working under a blanket fort with a Kindergartener as much as I do having an intelligent conversation about a research paper with a highschooler. No matter the age, my philosophy is two-fold: 1) learning should be enjoyable and 2) the goal of tutoring is independence. I want my students to look forward to when I come, but also to be able to confidently wave goodbye at the end of our time together because I have prepared them to handle their work on their own. When I'm not in class or tutoring, I enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, gardening and boating. I also can be found very often in my kitchen, trying my hand at whatever new concoction has piqued my interest that day. I'm always willing to try new things and meet new people and I greatly look forward to meeting you!

I recently graduated from University of California, Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Science in Integrative Biology and Physiology and I am currently applying to medical school. While at UCLA, I had many great opportunities tutoring and mentoring both children and college students. I volunteered with Kids Korner through which I was able to provide tutoring and mentoring services in an underserved community in North Hollywood, California. I helped children in subjects ranging from math to English to geography. I also led tutoring sessions for college students in a nutrition course and an anatomy course. I would like to continue and help students in subjects they struggle with. I enjoy tutoring a broad range of subjects, but especially science subjects (such as anatomy, physiology, nutrition, life sciences, etc.) and math subjects (such as algebra, geometry, trigonometry, pre-calculus, etc.). I strongly believe that if a student and tutor work together they can conquer the hardest of problems. As a tutor, I always try to instill the importance of a higher education and its role in a successful future. In my spare time, I enjoy reading a good book, cooking (especially experimenting), crafting, playing tennis, and learning random facts!

I think it is important to know that students tutored by me not only receive help understanding key concepts in their courses but improved studying habits that will assist them in their future academic endeavors. I have been an advocate for the advancement and growth STEM education since my freshman year of undergrad. I've found one of the best ways to enhance STEM education is to make sure students understand key concepts and receive quality assistance outside the classroom in the form of tutoring. I am a graduate student that was recently accepted to Thomas Jefferson University's doctorate program in "Genetics, Genomics and Cancer Biology" after completing my Bachelors of Science in "Molecular and Cell Biology" at Florida Atlantic University. I have won numerous awards for academic excellence and scientific research as an undergraduate student, which can be seen in detail on my Curriculum Vitae upon request. I have tutored biomedical sciences coursework ranging from general biology to Cancer biology, and privately tutored high school students over the years in biology courses. As a tutor I am focused on maximizing a student's strengths, while directly targeting weaknesses in subject material and studying habits during our time together.
