My other passions are sports, particularly baseball and hockey, I love hiking and other outdoor activities, working out, music and photography! Later this year, I will be pursuing a Master's of Education at graduate school so that I can become officially certified as a teacher in Arizona. In the summer of 2014, I tutored a 2nd grade girl and a 3rd grade girl in topics ranging from negative numbers, multiplication, and division to synonyms, antonyms, and early essay-writing. I tutor elementary math, a variety of English subjects such as essay editing, grammar, literature, reading, and writing, as well as test prep for lower-level ISEE, elementary-level SSAT, and SAT Verbal. Since my current career dream is to teach English, I like tutoring the English-related topics the most. I particularly enjoy the process of helping students with their essay editing and essay writing. When I teach, my goal is to help the student learn how to do something on their own as effectively as possible without making the learning process unpleasant. My hobbies largely consist of reading and keeping up with a number of television shows. My favorite genre is fantasy, but I also find science fiction and thrillers engaging. I consider myself both a microbiologist and a chemist. In 2007, I graduated from Arizona State University cum laude with a major in microbiology and minor in chemistry. Most of my college years were spent working in various laboratories dealing with bacteria, fungi, and viruses and using advanced microscopy techniques to visualize them. As an undergraduate, I was the recipient of a Teaching Excellence award for a Teaching Assistant position I held for a Microbiology Lab, which was an expected but great honor for me to receive. I have held two very different chemistry based jobs (one that I am currently in now) since graduation in which I test drinking water and foods for a vast array of microbial agents and chemical compounds that are dangerous to the public. Using my experience in both academics, research and in my career, I have been able to tie in real world problems and solutions to students I have taught and tutored, and hope I can do the same for you!

I have also attended a postsecondary institution, National University and majored in Education with an emphasis in Curriculum Development. Upon graduation, I was employed as a (K-12) substitute teacher. My responsibilities are as follows but not limited to: I formulated effective lesson plans in accordance to the Department of Education, students were instructed in all required subjects, and I also tutored students in math, reading, and writing. These students whom I was given the opportunity to teach and tutor resided in underprivileged communities. Under my tutelage, many of the students achieved academic success in the targeted areas and tests scores soared. Because of the approach that was used to educate the students, it became the anchor for their success.In addition to substituting, I also worked in the private sector and instructed students in a combination classroom that consisted of students in grades four through six; and also in grades three through five on two separate employment opportunities. Many of the students were empowered by their academic achievements which played a significant role in boosting their confidence. This was many of the wonderful moments that I had the opportunity to witness concerning their accomplishments.While I have tutored in other areas besides math, writing, and reading, my passion is for history.
