I have 20 year's of teaching experience in English/language arts & reading intervention. As a result, I've taught most grades K-12. I've been fortunate to work with student's from diverse backgrounds.My mission is to help students gain the skills they need to be successful readers. I have also worked as a College Adjunct Instructor in Education and English Composition.I tutor elementary students through adult professionals.Currently I am writing a series of books designed to help people pass the various teaching test using my "insider" knowledge of these tests.I am an English language nerd. Especially storytelling and language evolutions.I believe everyone can always learn more and new things.Outside of the classroom I love live theatre, good food, and traveling.

I'm a Certified Texas Educator and School Administrator with over 15 years of diverse experience spanning all grade levels, from Pre-K to 12th grade, and even college students honing their skills in writing and literature. My love for English ignited in elementary school, and I still vividly remember my first publication in high school.Throughout my journey, I've been fortunate to have inspiring teachers and mentors who fueled my passion for teaching and individualized instruction. I have taught a range of courses, including English II, English II Pre-AP, English III AP, English IV, and a College and Career Readiness Course. Additionally, I've had the privilege of working with adults seeking their GED, helping them build the literacy skills necessary to achieve their educational goals and improve their lives.As an Area Academic Facilitator, I've supported teachers, students, and campus administrators across K-12, helping them navigate the challenges of a rigorous curriculum. With the implementation of the STAAR test in Texas, I'm proud to share that 100% of my students met the Approaches Grade Level standard in reading, with 97% achieving Meets Grade Level and 62% reaching Masters Grade Level. In writing assessments, my results were equally impressive, with 100% achieving the minimum score, and 32 students classified as Advanced.My mission is to make a meaningful impact on the lives of studentsboth young and adultwho are willing to overcome challenges. I strive to create fun, engaging learning experiences that are tailored to meet individual needs. By leveraging student data and understanding their unique learning styles, I ensure measurable improvement and outcomes that can be replicated. I am a graduate of The University of South Carolina. I studied Early Childhood Education and graduated Magna Cum Laude. After graduation, I began working in Atlanta where I completed six years in the classroom. I received the Teacher of the Year award in 2019. Currently, I am working as a reading interventionist in DC. I focus on the Orton Gillingham method and small group guided reading with grades K-4. I am passionate about building strong relationships with students and families in order to create the optimal environment for student success. In my spare time, I love to read, run, hike and cook new things!

I am a high school history teacher. I have a bachelors of arts degree in history and political science. I have been tutoring math and reading for over 9 years. I also offer test prep: ACT, SAT, SAT Subject Test, GED and ASVAB.

I have been lucky enough to work with many students as an educator for the past 10 years. I received my Bachelor of the Arts in Psychology for Marian University in Indianapolis and my teaching certification from Indiana Wesleyan University. Since becoming a teacher, I have worked with students in many different settings from rural to urban in both private and public schools. My prior teaching experience has been diverse as I have been a general education teacher, Title I teacher, language arts teacher and special education teacher. In fact, I have had the opportunity to work with students in grades 1st-8th at some point during my career! While I tutor many subjects, I am most passionate about reading intervention and teaching the Orton-Gillingham method. In fact, I recently completed training necessary to qualify as a Dyslexia Specialist in Indiana. The most rewarding things about being a teacher is seeing my students have that "AHA!" moment and grow in confidence during our time together. My philosophy when working with students is that learning should be fun, meaningful and engaging and something that sparks their interest in becoming lifelong learners. In my free time, I enjoy reading (especially mysteries), watching movies, spending time with my family and friends and learning new things that will help me to grow both personally and professionally.

I have been an educator for almost 30 years and have worked with children of all ages from kindergarten all the way to college and beyond. As a classroom teacher, I taught both elementary and high school. I am currently a high school counselor and the combination of all of my experience gives me a unique window into the world of education and college entrance. My experience, combined with my doctoral degree with a focus on learning disabilities, allows me a varied perspective while working with children. I work with the whole child and pride myself ion being able to meet each of my students where they are while pushing them to achieve more than they ever thought possible. As a mother of two children with dyslexia, I have seen first hand, the frustration and struggles that accompany learning challenges and I am here to help. In addition to my experience in education, I have also been writing for over 30 years and have had articles and poems published in multiple magazines and journals and have co-authored several medical journal articles related to food allergy and bullying and have also published two books about counseling and learning disabilities through Routledge Press.
