I did my undergraduate studies at Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. I received my MBA in Healthcare administration at Davenport University in Grand Rapids, MI. I have been involved in tutoring since MSU, where I held a teaching assistant position in the Foreign Language department. In more recent years, I have been working with the Big Brother/Big Sister program, tutoring students within the elementary and middle school age groups.My background in psychology gives me a greater appreciation for the various teaching techniques. Everyone learns differently and whether I am tutoring 5th grade math, psychology, or a foreign language, it is important to adapt to the student's unique way of learning, some of which may be unconventional.I grew up on two different continents (North America and Africa) which has given me very rich and diverse cultural awareness. I enjoy traveling the world and have spent time in places like Japan, Spain, Switzerland and Costa Rica.

Upon completion of our medical education, our role as a teacher has started. I started this role started prior to entering medical school, however, having several opportunities to present my undergraduate throughout the country. Now that I have completed my residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, I have learned that I can make an impact on future generations by sharing my knowledge with those who desire to start or further their careers in the sciences, technology, or mathematics. I want to teach individuals of all ages and walks of life to ensure that I have the largest possible impact. This passion I have to influence future scientists, as well as my lengthy training in biotechnology and medicine, will serve me well with your team.

I am a graduate of the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where I received my M.D. (1974) and Ph.D. in Biochemistry (1976). My specialty in medicine was Pathology with a subspecialty interest in kidney pathology. My research focused on protein structure and drug design using protein crystallography. I taught medical students for 35 years in addition to my clinical and research duties. While I am capable of tutoring a number of subjects, I am happiest teaching math, which is a lifelong love. I believe strongly in the ability of education to improve one's quality of life; I still enjoy learning new topics every day. I want students to be able to use their knowledge to solve problems; pure memorization simply to pass a test is not my idea of a good education. In my spare time, I enjoy reading the classics I missed when I was younger, playing chess and playing the piano.

I am currently a master's student in the SW program at Virginia Commonwealth University. I completed high school at sixteen years old with a 4.11 GPA and a certification as a Medical Assistant. I have been tutoring all throughout high school and into my college years. I have tutored peers in preparation for exams, and I have served as a mentor for multiple students in elementary and middle school. My favorite subjects to tutor are math and science, specifically precalculus and chemistry. Besides this, some of my hobbies include chess, abstract art, band; I play Baritone; reading. My teaching style focuses around practical and collaborative learning; I believe learning is easier and more enjoyable when it has meaning.

I started my journey while in high school, I took my first anatomy and physiology class and discovered that I wanted a career that would allow me to work with the human body. I was mostly interested in dentistry and orthodontics until I hurt my back in an offseason football workout. After I went to my Chiropractor I realized the importance of the structure of the spine and the function of the central nervous system. While in college I was named captain of our rugby team and enjoyed helping other learn and work together. I was a teacher assistant for an anatomy and physiology class during my time at Fairfield University. I continued my passion of helping others while at Palmer College of Chiropractic where I tutored the first quarter students in general anatomy where I aided them in understanding the anatomy with the use of cadavers. A short while later I was named the president of a chiropractic technique club called: Gonstead Technique. I plan on using my experience and knowledge to help others reach their goals and full potential.

I worked in a preschool for 3 years during high school, highlighting competency in Reading, Math, Spanish, Science and History. I also worked in after school programs during high school, for students of all ages and was a tutor in college as well.I was an honors student all through grade school, obtained my BS in Health Science and am currently pursuing my doctoral degree in occupational therapy. So I have learned many fun and effective ways to teach students!In my free time I am into fitness, photography, playing with my two puppies and Zumba!
