I'm referring to math, of course, but I didn't always like the subject. Until about age 16, I thought of math as a boring, mind-numbing process of blindly memorizing formulas and then forgetting them after the test, but a series of wonderful teachers showed me the truth. I had thought that everything in math was invented arbitrarily just to torture students, but actually it all made sense in a deep way. When I caught a glimpse of what math really was, I found it irresistible and I ended up majoring in math in college at UChicago. I'm currently a Master's student in Computer Science at NYU.

I am an aspiring applied mathematician, with particular interest in image processing and climate science. I graduated in May 2017 from Washington University in St. Louis with a bachelor's in physics and mathematics, and am beginning a PhD program in September 2017 at the University of Chicago in Computational and Applied Mathematics. I've tutored introductory physics students for three years and enjoyed it thoroughly, as a chance to help other students while revisiting fundamental concepts to enhance my own knowledge. I'm eager to continue reaching out and helping students of math and physics to succeed and, furthermore, to appreciate the beauty and power of these subjects.

Being a student, Ive understood the frustration of not knowing what to do or who to turn to in the moment I dont understand something. This feeling can be very disheartening, but having the right person to guide you can make all the difference. For struggling students, I want to be that person to help them reach their full potential. In high school, I tutored people (mostly high school students like myself at the time) within the community, and it was personally rewarding every time I saw a student gain confidence in their studies.

I am currently a rising Senior at Rice University from Alexandria, Virginia. I'm studying Political Science and Latin American Studies with a minor in Politics, Law and Social Thought. After I graduate I hope to go to law school to become an immigration lawyer.

I am a college sophomore working towards a degree with honors in Computer Science at the University of Texas at Dallas. I have spent all my academic life learning how to study effectively, earning high scores on the ACT and SAT, and I am passionate about passing that knowledge on to others. With my performance on standardized tests, I was able to become a National Merit Scholar and obtain a full scholarship to university, a long-time dream of mine. I have very recent experience, so I understand the hurdles that many students face. I want them to feel confident that they have the tools they need to succeed. I love teaching test prep because standardized tests have an enormous impact on people's futures, and I also teach math because it reaches across many fields, from astronomy to robotics. I work with students to encourage a personal path towards learning that is different for everyone.

I am currently pursuing a Master's degree in violin performance at the Juilliard School. I have tutored privately and through Chegg Tutoring, Varsity Tutors, PrepExpert, and iLearn World throughout high school and college, with most of my experience being in standardized test prep and English. The most fulfilling moments that I have with my students are when I see them applying previous lessons and skills to new challenges. I believe that a good teacher not only helps a student tackle specific, formulaic kinds of questions, but also imparts the skills necessary for adapting to the diverse intellectual challenges that life presents. My goal is always for my students to leave their sessions having learned something that will be useful for years to come, not just on the next test that they are preparing for. After all, education is a lifelong process!

I am a current student at the University of Chicago. I am working towards a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences, and I am on the pre-medical track. I am extremely passionate about tutoring, and I have several years of experience tutoring students in my high school's learning center in various subjects as well as tutoring private clients in Standardized Test preparation. Given that I graduated high school recently, I have taken several Standardized Tests and high school subjects myself, so I have a comprehensive understanding of not only how to tutor these subjects and exams, but also what it is like to take them. While I have a wide range of interests and am able to tutor various subjects, I am most passionate about tutoring in Standardized Test preparation (including ACT, SAT, SAT Subject Tests, and AP Exams), Biology, Chemistry, Math, and Spanish. I truly believe that students should have the opportunity to learn in the way that works best for them, and I love being able to help them succeed by creating a comfortable tutoring environment in which we can best assess their particular needs and use strategies specific to them. I am a rising sophomore at Cornell University, studying Human Biology, Health and Society. I am on the premed track and am pursuing a minor in South Asian Studies. I was born in India and grew up in Singapore and Buffalo, NY, where I currently live. This past semester, I tutored middle and high school students in math, biology, and chemistry in Ithaca. I also particularly enjoy tutoring for standardized tests such as the ACT, as I feel it is where students are able to make a lot of progress quickly, and it also tends to be the most rewarding for both the students and for me! As someone who loves making organized and detailed plans, I believe having a clear set of goals for one's future is the key to success, and this can be applied to anything, from a single test to one's entire career. I would love to help my students with setting goals and making plans in their high school and/or college careers, in addition to tutoring a specific subject! In college, I am most involved with Cornell's Hindu Student Council and SPICMACAY, an Indian classical music and dance organization. Outside of academia, I sing South Indian classical music and play many different genres of the piano.

I'm a writer, but I love numbers, and nothing makes me more proud than helping students overcome their biggest challenges. I've scored near-perfect on both standardized tests, and I've been helping students understand how to improve their own scores ever since. I'm also capable of tutoring advanced Music Theory topics, as well as Spanish and Mandarin Chinese
