College level coursework can be completely different from that of high school and I am excited to help others make that jump, especially in STEM disciplines. Even if you don't consider yourself to be a math and science person, I believe you can make great progress with the right attitude.I study Engineering Science at Trinity University. I tutor in group sessions for classes like Statics and Dynamics. I've made a list of meaningful study habits and learning strategies that I would like to share.I also graduated high school with an IB Diploma. I am very comfortable with IB Literature (HL), Mathematics, and Theory of Knowledge.

I am a rising sophomore at Brown University from Newton, MA majoring in Biochemistry with outside interests in East Asian studies, Slavic studies, and art history. I'm comfortable working with chemistry, biology, most math subjects, and SAT Reading and Math, but am especially confident with tutoring Mandarin Chinese, as a native Chinese speaker with experience teaching a beginning Chinese course in the middle school support program at the Wheeler School in Providence, RI. If you're interested in improving your Chinese (or just looking to start a new language!), please reach out to me! I will be working as a teaching assistant for a biology course at Brown this summer, but am always looking for more ways to get involved in education.

I hold a BA with honors in English, and I am currently pursuing my MA in English. I've worked as a writing consultant at my university's writing center, so I'm experienced in helping with essays in any subject, even subjects that I might not know much about-- I focus on quality and clarity of writing, and would rather work with you to help you grow than just do the work for you. I've also worked with the 826 program, working to tutor high school students in many subjects, and have had the chance to run several college essay workshops.Outside of the "professional academic" world, I like to use my minor in writing creatively. I've been a writer for about ten years, and have won several awards (and recently had a poem of mine published!). Just like almost every writing tutor, I'm working on a novel (I work a lot in the fantasy and young/new adult genres).I'm primarily a writing tutor, and I believe in writing as a means of deepening your own understanding. My personal expertise lies mostly in the arts and social sciences, but I love working in subjects I'm not as familiar with! If I'm not as familiar with the subject matter, it helps the person I'm working with break things down to a base level so they can show they understand the topic well enough to explain it to someone on the "outside," and I maintain this approach even when working with students in my field.Whether you're looking for help on an academic paper, a college essay, or a creative endeavor, I can't wait to work with you!

I am a rising sophomore at Cornell University. I am studying Statistics and Economics, with possible minors in information science and computer science. I have been working with students for several years now and have provided academic support to my peers throughout my time as a high school and now college student. Through my religious school, I taught students of all ages, ranging from Pre-K through 8th Grade. In high school, I helped prepare students for AP, SAT, ACT, and SAT subject tests as part of my role in the National Honor Society. I have considerable personal experience with a vast array of subjects and love sharing my knowledge and experience with others. From calculus to creative writing, I have a genuine passion for all academic pursuits and helping others feel the same way.

A good rule of thumb when wondering about what I tutor is that if there's an English class, I'm tutoring it at every educational level! I also tutor in IB Theatre, Essay Editing, Performing Arts, and Spelling Bee. My absolute favorite subject to tutor in is Essay Editing. I know firsthand how difficult it can be to have so many great ideas floating around in your head and struggle to put those ideas to paper, and it brings me a lot of joy to help a student's voice shine through their writing in the best way it can. I have been editing essays for the past 10 years (yes, since I was a tween!), and I extended that tutoring to students in other non-editing areas about two years ago when I started tutoring college students and their middle school siblings in reading comprehension. I am passionate about helping students because I love knowing that I am an indelible part of improving someone's education. I have seen firsthand how education changes lives and impacts futures, and it gives me great pride to help facilitate that change in other students. My tutoring style is very hands-on and conversational. The wonderful blessing (and occasional curse) of English and writing is that there's usually more than one correct answer to everything. I always listen to the student and make sure there is room for open discussion about the best ways to convey an idea or solve a problem.I graduated from Wellesley College in 2019 with a B.A. in History and Gender Studies. My dream is to get my M.F.A in Lighting Design. I am a professional theatrical lighting designer by trade who has worked in theaters all over the USA. When I'm not hanging from the ceiling focusing a stage light, I can usually be found working on the play I'm writing, kayaking, or taking long nature walks. My pronouns are they/them/theirs.

I am a recent graduate of NYU School of Law, where I was a Root-Tilden-Kern Public Interest Scholar. This fall I will be joining the Center for Family Representation in Queens, NY as a Staff Attorney, helping to preserve and reunite families involved in the child welfare system. Prior to law school I worked in direct social services with children involved in the juvenile justice system.I greatly enjoy teaching the LSAT and helping people to become better writers. I took the LSAT three times through self-study and previously taught LSAT classes through a large test prep company. I understand what it is like to struggle through the LSAT and come out on the other side successful. Through teaching I have learned how to help students carve their own path to success and look forward to helping students recognize their academic strengths and address test challenges. As a writing teacher, I focus on helping students to write clearly and persuasively in as few words as possible. I have read countless law school admissions essays while serving on the committee to select scholarship recipients at NYU law, so I know not just get what it takes to get graduate school, but to get a full ride as well.In my personal life my biggest joy is my fiance, Aubrey, who I got engaged to last month. When I am not teaching or lawyering I love to cook, keep up with the news, lift weights, and watch the Red Sox.If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. I look forward to working with you!

I received my Bachelor of Science in Biology from Ball State University in the summer of 2014 and have been taking a break from academia since then. I am in the process now of applying for PhD programs in Computational Biology. I have done research in the field of freshwater ecology and am anticipating the publication of a paper I co-authored in the next several months. In the past I have worked with students of a variety of age ranges on standardized test prep, middle school and high school math classes, and college-level biology courses as a volunteer, teaching assistant, and private tutor. I have spent time lecturing, providing homework help, and offering specific testing strategies to different students at different times. I have experience with the majority of science and math Advanced Placement courses, the ACT, the SAT, the general GRE, and the Biology GRE.To me, tutoring is a two-way street. While it is important that I answer questions, I also need to ask them to be effective. I love when students have specific questions about the material they are working on because it means they have an understanding of their strengths and weaknesses. I want to encourage students to always be able to explain why they picked a certain answer or what steps they took to solve a problem. I also want students to have a connection to the material and understand how it relates to their existing knowledge. The more connections we make between concepts, the better understanding we have of the big picture. When I'm not working or studying, I like to spend time outdoors walking, hiking, and swimming. I also love music and usually aim to go to at least one concert each month.
