Hello! I'm Garrett and I live in Salt Lake City and I want to help you understand topics in natural science and mathematics. I have a bachelor's degree in geological science (geophysics) from University of Colorado Boulder with a minor in mathematics. Part of my success in college came from the preparation I had from taking AP Calculus and Physics courses in high school. I'm a huge fan of visual aids and examining real-life examples and applications when teaching. I worked as a learning assistant in an astronomy lab course and as a tutor for student athletes in geology while attending CU. I've been honing the ability to craft perfect analogies to help you make sense of mathematical or physical concepts.

I am currently studying at Brigham Young University after graduating from High School in Pennsylvania. I am a high school graduate working towards a BS in Finance and possibly an MBA down the road.Over the past couple of semesters I have gone from helping students with homework to an official volunteer tutor through our campus's tutoring program called YServe. I volunteered there for the past semester before deciding to do it as a job.I tutor Introductory Business and Economics classes as well as SAT/ACT prep. I especially enjoy tutoring Economics because I enjoy the subject and a lot of times students just need to think about things a new way to understand it easily. My teaching philosophy is that the biggest key to learning is just getting in the right mindset. Being willing and excited to learn and then understanding what the question is really looking for are the keys to success in almost every subject.Other interests I have include football and basketball. I also play piano and enjoy listening to a variety of music. I also enjoy reading philosophical books when I have time.

I was born and raised in Mexico, and I have lived in the US since I was 18. I graduated with a BA in history and a minor in Arabic from BYU in 2009. I later went back and took about 15 credits of undergraduate math and statistics. In 2012 I graduated with a Master's of Public Affairs and Applied Statistics from the University of Texas at Austin. My Spanish upbringing has opened some doors to help Spanish learners. During my undergraduate years, I taught Spanish to pay for school. I would tutor students who wanted a down to earth explanation of a Spanish grammatical concept or who simply wanted to practice conversation. I later became an approved court interpreter in Utah and worked on a few arraignments and one trial.I currently work during for a research company writing statistical programs to analyze data. The way I put it is: "I run regressions for a living." I like statistics and I like intuitive interpretations of economic and statistical concepts. I have tutored high school and college students taking their probability, hypothesis testing, regression, and econometric classes. At UT Austin, I took more than 18 credits of graduate statistics and RA'd for an economist there.I love helping people understand concepts. I feed of the faces of students when they get it.

Mechatronics Major at Utah Valley University. I've tutored college students on Math at the University of Wisconsin Rock County, where I was pursuing a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering. I enjoy helping people succeed and believe that people should not be discouraged in seeking help if they are not understanding or have difficulties with school subjects. While I helped my peers with understand math, I have grown to enjoy this subject because I see it as a puzzle needing to be solved. I also enjoy math because there is always a right answer. I enjoy science for it helps us understand the world in which we live in.
