Anatomy Tutor • +36 Subjects

I graduated from Bastyr University in 2012 with a Naturopathic Doctorate, and I also hold a BA in Liberal Arts from St. John's College (the "Great Books" program). I love science, I love helping other people understand science, and, with my diverse background, I'm pretty good at helping students to connect with and understand their subjects.I'm a great tutor because I love learning myself, and I can transmit my excitement for the subject matter to my students. Furthermore, I strive to understand core concepts rather than learning through rote memorization. My ability to discuss and convey core concepts can help students learn not just the subject at hand, but how best to learn in general.

ACT Math Tutor • +23 Subjects

I have always enjoyed helping my fellow students learn math and science. I feel like I can relate to many students because I have a variety of interests such as tennis, robotics, and reading. I try to make my sessions as fun as possible so that my students will remain interested in the subject matter for a longer period of time. I teach to the level of the student and explain using terms they will understand. Teaching others can sometimes seem difficult, but I believe it is ultimately rewarding. I am working towards completing a computer engineering major.

ACT Math Tutor • +15 Subjects

I am an undergraduate student at the University of Texas at Austin, majoring in physics and math. I plan on graduating in 2019. Afterwards, I plan on going to graduate school to get a PhD. During college, I have been involved in various outreach events with the Society of Physics students including events like ExploreUT, as well as giving tours in the physics building. I have also done outreach in high school. As a committee member of the Bergen Science Challenge, I was involved in the planning and execution of a county-wide science fair for middle school students at my magnet high school in New Jersey. I like to show to my students why I enjoy learning about math and physics, as there are many interesting things to be learned about how the world works. I greatly enjoy learning about the odd consequences of fields like quantum mechanics and relativity. I have also done tutoring in the past, both independently and through the National Honors Society in my high school. I tutor a large variety of subjects within physics and math, up to and including Calculus. In my academics, I use the majority of physics and math knowledge I have accumulated on a regular basis in my classes, so I know where math and physics concepts are used in higher level classes, as well as how they apply to concepts outside of the subject.

Elementary School Tutor • +12 Subjects

I have taught elementary students for over 30 years and most of that time has been in 4th, 5th, and 6th grades. I have done reading intervention work with 3rd-6th graders. I am currently a full-time 5th grade teacher, teaching math, science, language arts (writing and grammar), and reading. I do large group and small group instruction in all of those academic areas. I encourage all of my students to do the best they can and to learn something new each and every day.I tutor elementary students in all academic areas. I really enjoy working with math, reading, writing, and science as those are some of my favorite subjects to learn about. I have worked hard during my career to make these engaging subjects for the students I have taught. I have learned that all students can learn, it is important to discover what works for them.I have a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. I have a Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Doane University-Crete, Nebraska. I am level 1 Google Certified. I have an additional 21 hours of education past my Master's Degree as well.I find joy in traveling, reading, spending time with family and friends. cheering my children on at sporting events, cooking and baking, gardening, and time with my new grandbaby.Due to the fact that I live in a rural area in Nebraska, my preference is to do online tutoring only. I am punctual and easy to work with. I hope to work with you soon!

Conversational French Tutor • +5 Subjects

I am a French native and have been tutoring since I moved to Britain to be a French Assistant in a great middle/high school six years ago. I studied linguistics and English in France and ended up with a Master's in Theatre (which is the other side of me). When I tutor, I always remember the English assistants I used to have at school, I learned so much more with them because they were fun, knew their country very well and could tell us about what was going on there (we listened to music, watched videos, read books and even performed in mini plays we had to write!). I try to emulate this. I am convinced that getting to know the culture of a country is tremendously helpful when it comes to learning a language. I fell in love with grammar in elementary school and completed all the exercises from the Bled (a French grammar book) instead of playing outside. Believe me, my bases are rock solid.I live in Center City and would prefer students not too far from it. If you are interested or need any more info, please do not hesitate to contact me.Looking forward to hearing from you!
