I have 9 years of University level teaching experience in Chemistry, Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry. I love tutoring people because it helps keep key concepts fresh in my head. Not everything you learn in school will be used, but some of it will be! And you don't know which parts until much much later. I focus on imparting understanding to my students. I detest rote memorization. Conceptual understanding will help you ace tests in this course and the ones after it!

I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Cell and Molecular Biology with a minor in Chemistry at Texas Tech University. Currently, I am striving towards my Master of Science in Environmental Sciences and Policy at Johns Hopkins University, and will be obtaining my degree in May of 2022. Being a student myself, I am excellent at pinpointing what each learner needs to succeed. I was a former educator at a community college focusing on biology and microbiology. This college had multiple early college high school programs in place, therefore I have taught at the high school and college level. Prior to that, I was a group tutor for honors biology (known as a supplemental instructor), in which I created review packets and held sessions for the students. More than halfway through my advanced graduate program, I feel confident in my ability to stretch my teaching skills past biology and microbiology, into environmental science as well! The foundation of my teaching philosophy is to be patient and motivational. I encourage students to take their time and we can always attempt different learning methods or routes until the student truly understands the concept. I focus on reiterating concepts, drawing images and writing helpful key words on the whiteboard, and asking the student questions throughout the lesson to ensure they are grasping the material.I would love to help you succeed!

I currently am a Special Education Teacher for Howard County Public Schools. I work primarily with pre-k students with a variety of special needs and learning styles. I feel that my strengths as an educator are powerfully reflected in my ability to accommodate various learning styles, behaviors, and abilities while making learning an exciting, positive experience. Learners are diverse in every way, and each student requires unique strategies, motivators, and reinforcers to be successful throughout the learning process. I take pride in knowing that my students look forward to learning and gain confidence to tackle new challenges; as they begin to take the necessary steps toward becoming independent learners. I enjoy getting to know my students on a personal level as well. I love to hear about their hobbies, families, hopes and dreams.Outside of tutoring and teaching I enjoy spending time with my family at home or on the beach. I also am an avid runner and exercise enthusiast and take pride in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

I received my BS (2010) in Engineering Mechanics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and my MS (2012) and PhD (2016) degrees in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. During my time as an undergraduate I ran discussion sections twice per week for students enrolled in Engineering Dynamics where I provided brief lectures and supplemental problem sets for students looking for extra help outside of the lectures. In graduate school, I continued working in academics as a teaching assistant for a senior level composite mechanics course. Also in graduate school, I served as the laboratory manager for the Composites Manufacturing Laboratory on campus were I instructed hundreds of students on the basics of fabricating composite parts for a variety of applications including vehicle wing elements, rocket casings, and sporting goods. When tutoring a student, I prefer to learn what motivates them to be successful and where their passion lies with a subject. My passion is for understanding the world around me through engineering, math, and science, so I prefer and enjoy tutoring those subjects above all else. Outside of academics, I enjoy making music, running, and playing ultimate frisbee.

I have extensive experience teaching in various capacities and now also tutoring. My previous teaching experience falls into three categories; teaching children, teens, and adults. While I began working with children when I assisted in Jewish Day Schools and Congregational schools at the beginning of college, I now am spending more time tutoring elementary reading and math. At the beginning of college, I worked as a teacher's aide at the Hebrew Day School of Montgomery County and at Ohr Kodesh Congregation. I also taught Hebrew School for several hours a week later on as a lead teacher at the Bethesda Chevy Chase Jewish Community Group later on. At these different schools, I worked with children whose ages ranged from kindergarten to sixth grade. Informed by the formal education courses I took in college, I learned to design Hebrew school curriculums, create lesson plans, and even to assist some children with special learning needs. I made use of multimedia techniques when I created the lesson plans and made sure that the kids gained exposure to the curriculum through art, music, and technology in addition to more traditional testing, quizzing, and memorizing exercises. When I worked with teens, I taught an elective course in Jewish story-telling and led a literary magazine workshop for teen-aged girls at a homeschooling program called Ashreinu Educational Programs for Girls. I worked on creating a milieu where the students felt comfortable expressing themselves creatively while acting in a respectful way.My work with adults involves tutoring college students in subjects that have included Hebrew, Communications, and even the fine arts. Thanks for considering me as a tutor.

I am a student at the Honors College at Rutgers University-New Brunswick, pursuing a degree in Computer Science and Business Analytics & IT. Some of the subjects I tutor are Algebra, Calculus I & II, and the SAT, but there are many more you can inquire about. I love tutoring students because I know how much a tutor can inspire a student to improve, and I hope to offer that to my own students. Some of my personal hobbies when not tutoring or studying are playing tennis and photography.

I graduated from the University of Arizona with a degree in Physiology. During my first two years in college, I played on the golf team for Pima Community College. Starting my junior year of college, I become a tutor for Pima, as well as a golf coach for The First Tee of Tucson. I love passing on my knowledge and skills to people in need. During my time at Pima, I found myself the most helpful when I tutor in Chemistry and Math. Math is a subject that has a special place in my heart; chemistry can be related to our everyday life, which sparked my interest. I believe that any question asked is a step closer to understanding the material, and I encourage my students to ask any question that can help resolve their confusion. I love playing golf, road biking, hiking, and eating delicious foods in my spare time.

French/Greek/American marine biologist turned teacher! I have spent many years studying fish eggs and larvae (babies! So cute!) at an environmental consulting firm. However, as much as science gets me really excited, I really missed teaching! I changed careers and have now been teaching. After a year and a half abroad in Japan teaching French and English, I am now focusing on my masters in middle school science education. As a native French and English speaker, I have done a lot of tutoring in both of those subjects. As a science nerd, I am very excited to show students how nifty the natural world around us is. I would be more than happy to help you with biology, ecology, and environmental science!

I graduated magna cum laude from Cornell University with a BS in engineering physics, and a math minor. I have been tutoring for more than 6 years. For 2.5 years, I taught math to Cornell Engineering undergraduates, and I looked forward to it every week! On Varsity Tutors, I tutor up to college level mathematics and physics, test prep (including AP courses, and SAT reading/writing). Explaining difficult math and science concepts in plain English is my forte. I love teaching and will be glad to help anyone become an independent learner.
