I graduated from Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee in May of 2022. I was an Educational Studies and History double major with a French minor. As an education major, I was a part of a wide variety of classrooms from elementary math to high school history. Currently, I am studying Spanish in Mexico after two years teaching English in Guadeloupe, France to sharpen my foreign language skills and ESL teaching capabilities in preparation for multilingual and multicultural educational spaces. Upon my return to the United States, I will pursue my teaching license in secondary history. Thus, I am passionate about teaching History, English, and French. I also excel at teaching and academic writing. In addition to my experience guiding students in traditional classrooms, I have taught yoga for the past two years. This has involved planning classes for large groups in addition to providing personal assists to students throughout their practice. With my experience teaching others in both the traditional academic classroom and the nontraditional yoga classroom, I have learned there is no better way to assist others in their growth than meeting individuals exactly where they are. As a result, my teaching and tutoring styles are designed to capitalize upon what students already know so that they may build upon said knowledge and achieve more. Further, my teaching and tutoring are based on our humanity as people and thus there is plenty of conversation, inquiry, and room for mistakes. I believe education is an opportunity for creating possibilities, and as such I couldn't be more grateful to help others imagine their future possibilities.

I earned a Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor Classical Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington, and after teaching high school English for three years, I earned a Master of Arts in English from the University of Dallas. During and after earning my MA, I tutored in a community college writing center and taught credit and non-credit college English classes. I recently returned from South Korea, where I taught ESL classes to a wide range of students, elementary-aged to adult. I have experience teaching in both classroom and private settings, and I delight in helping students reach their goals and find their voices in order to better express themselves in both speaking and writing.

I am currently completing my Student Teaching Internship at Florida International University and will graduate with my bachelor's degree in Exceptional Student Education in December. I have completed my teaching certification exams which allow me to be certified in the state of Florida. I personally love learning, and my goal is always for students to find joy and excitement in learning new things as well! I have co-taught elementary-middle school in a classroom setting, I have tutored Elementary school students in reading, writing, and math, and have tutored a high school student in Algebra. My favorite subject to tutor is reading. I believe reading is the most important skill to master, and providing reading intervention is very rewarding, as seeing student growth is incredible. In addition, I have taught and provided tutoring to students with learning disabilities, emotional behavioral disabilities, and intellectual disabilities in core subject areas. This is my true passion, as teaching students with disabilities is what I am pursuing my career in, and what I love to do. I love teaching/tutoring in a way that is unique to each learner, I always get to know my students so I can successfully differentiate instruction according to each student's needs.

I came from a rural high school (DuBois, PA) with no AP classes as well as no Honors classes. I was projected that engineering would be too difficult for me and that I should pursue something less rigorous. I ended up graduating with a Honors degree in chemical engineering and a minor in mathematics from the Pennsylvania State University. I then received a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from Carnegie Mellon University doing all of my research work with Sandia National Laboratories. I achieved these goals by setting high expectations for myself and striving every day to meet these expectations. I am a tutor that predominantly focuses on STEM and Business subjects from high school through graduate school as well as standardized tests. I really do not have a favorite subject here. I just enjoy teaching students who desire to learn and improve themselves. When I was an undergraduate student as well as a teaching assistant in graduate school teaching first semester students, I could take a person the night before the exam that had no clue of what was going on in class and help them achieve a B on the exam the next day. Standardized tests such as the SAT/ACT exam comprise various courses in high school and I cannot teach someone everything they need to know in one night or if a person is weeks behind in the understanding of the course material. Whether it is a standardized test or learning another subject; an assessment must be determined of where the student is currently in their understanding of the material. Next a game plan must be put together to get the student from where they are currently at to where they want to go. The fact of the matter is unless a student has always struggled in mathematics since kindergarten, they can achieve a perfect or near perfect score on the SAT/ACT mathematics section. The only traits that are required are a high level of expectations as well as the desire and effort to achieve those expectations. When it comes to solving problems, I will always ask the student on how they would solve a particular problem. Their answers can range that they definitely know how to solve it to they have absolutely no idea. I would then guide them along through each problem with the goal to have them understand a correct approach needed and to instill in the student a better understanding of the material as time goes along. I was born and raised in Northern Italy, in the mountains, in a place where most people actually speak German. No, I don't have an accent, because my father is American and so I was raised bilingually from birth speaking German and English at home. Later of course I learnt Italian and then I studied Latin, French in high school as well. I've always been passionate about learning languages, and when I was into something, learning was easy for me and I enjoyed it.I graduated from the University of Innsbruck (Austria) with a MA in English and a minor in Spanish. After graduating, I worked in linguistic research and then decided to get a TEFL certificate to teach English as a foreign language. I moved from Italy to Prague and spent about a year teaching EFL there to private clients, both adults and kids as well as a class in high school. That's when I realized that teaching is my calling, my thing. I moved back to Italy to teach EFL in high school and middle school for 2.5 years, before moving to Detroit to get my MA in education at the University of Michigan Flint. Since 2019, I have been working as a teacher in public schools, and I am passionate about helping students. I believe that we all are learners and teachers. all of us are readers and writers. I have the ability to share my passion for learning with others, and one of my greatest strengths is building relationships with students which is the corner stone to successful learning and teaching. I believe that there are no bad kids or bad students, it's just that we all have different paths and ways of learning, we all have a different pace.
