I'm a recent re-hire at Varsity, and in the interim I've had a couple positions. I work for a pharmaceutical testing company right now, after a stint with Epic.When I grew up on the East Coast, I was fortunate enough to receive a good SAT I score, and SAT II scores. This really opened a lot of doors for me, both in terms of admissions and financial aid. My goal is to help my students meet whatever goals they have- whether it's improving on several sections of a standardized test, prepping for an AP exam or maybe some classroom work, I'm eager to make this happen.

I am a graduate of Oregon State University. I received my Master of Arts in English (Literature and Culture) with a focus on 20th Century American Literature. I received my Master of Education from the University of Sioux Falls. Additionally, I earned a double major (English and Theatre) from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Throughout these varying programs, I have sought opportunities to tutor students. From one-on-one mentoring of middle school sltudents, to small classroom work at the Refugee and Immigration Center, I have experience working with students of varying backgrounds and goals. Additionally, I have earned certification in English and Theatre subjects for grades 7-12. Currently, I teach middle and high school drama as well as 9th grade English. I am most passionate about the humanities; however, I tutor in a broad range of subjects. Along my educational path, various people tutored and mentored me in order to push my academic performance. I have a breadth of knowledge when it comes to the SHSAT and SAT and all levels of mathematics as I am an engineer by profession. I have been teaching for eight years, and nothing brings me greater joy than watching students grow into the readers, writers, and thinkers I know they can be. Most of that growth happens because I try to make the teaching environment a safe, comfortable, laughter-filled place where students can explore new ideas and express their thoughts and feelings. I find poetry particularly useful for that, and over and over again I have seen how students who resisted poetry when they walked into my classroom left at the end of the term with the sense that they would be reading poetry for the rest of their lives.

My experience with tutoring and educating started when I was in middle school. My family was from a humble background, but refused to compromise on education. After attending an afterschool company in Bayside for a year before being accepted into Stuyvesant High School, our family ran out of money to continue classes that would help me succeed in high school. My mother and I convinced the company that I could teach some lower grade courses while learning at my level. The company also used my success as a marketing tool.This arrangement successfully continued for four years, allowing me to score a 2300 on my SATs while also gaining tutoring experience. As a Gates Millennium Scholar, I was fortunate to have a full scholarship to New York University, where I continued to learn and teach. As one of only two students who skipped to Calculus III as a first semester freshman, I worked as a tutor in Calculus for side money to help my family.I am confident that my experiences and my full-time activities will allow you to get your target score on the GMAT. I took the GMAT in my senior year of college, and scored a 760 on my first try. I look forward to working with you to achieve your goals.

I have an MBA from Temple University with a focus on Strategy. My Bachelor's Degree is from Chiba University with a major in Electronics Engineering. I have a deep appreciation of theoretical concepts and their practical applications that is why I was able to quickly apply these two bodies of knowledge to real life situations in various industries. Furthermore, over the years I was also able to mentor individuals from different backgrounds and ages; i.e. classmates, referrals and colleagues helping them achieve their objectives. I always found it rewarding to see faces shine during Aha moments of understanding and eventually see many of them improve their scores/performance.With regards to learning, I believe there are 3 keys: practice, practice and more practice! In other words, my message to you is be not afraid. Any seemingly complex knowledge can be learned with sufficient understanding and review. I am here to guide you every step of the way.When I am not working or teaching, I am cooking, exercising, reading, meditating or just being with friends having a relaxing time. I have taken 3 semesters of college level math including algebra and calculus as well as three years of german in high school and have lived and worked in Berlin during the summer of 2014 and 2015. I grew up in a Bucks County tutoring and babysitting my adolescent neighbors in math and reading. I have been called a great friend and great influence for the children I've spent time with. I have taught my american friends practical german and I have taught my german friends practical english. Having lived in Germany for several months I have a very useful understanding for the language and how to communicate casually and confidently in day to day situations. I am friendly, patient and genuinely interested in sharing ideas/knowledge with the people I meet. I am most competent in early math up through algebra, and german language studies. I am happy to tutor anyone of any age in anything I am capable of :)

I recently graduated medical school with an MD and am taking a year off before starting my residency program (the program required for doctors to specialize).
