Language learning should be curiosity-driven, vigorous, enjoyable, and should give emphasis to student self-expression.My objective as a native Spanish Teacher who was born in the Dominican Republic is to show my enthusiasm and motivation on the subject for my students to also become motivated and furthermore advance toward a level of independence where they have developed a desire to learn more and think for themselves. Language must be taught in the context of culture, and it is therefore, my responsibility to bring in my cultural background as well as my knowledge of other Hispanic and Latino cultures for the students to learn about.

I am graduate of Penn State University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in International Politics with a concentration in Latin American Relations and Spanish Literature. Spanish is my native language. I grew up in a family of educators, so I am aware of the importance of being a good teacher. I believe is listening and working with the student to develop a course of action that is the most beneficial to the student. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, hiking with my dogs, puzzles, and watching movies.

I am a highly-motivated teacher with experience across many educational settings, from coaching and outdoor adventures to classroom teaching and special education.I started my teaching path in 2010 when I began working in outdoor education. With the outdoors as my classroom, I spent several years teaching outdoor science classes, leadership seminars and adventure activities to students from a wide variety of backgrounds. Working in the outdoor ed field was a great way to develop communication skills and teaching methods that are applicable to students with unique learning styles. In 2014, I became the Director of an Outdoor Education program - developing curriculum for our science classes, teaching and training a professional staff, and implementing a special education vocational program. Although I loved my experience directing a program, I realized that my passion is in working directly with students and helping them build the skills and relationships that will lead them to success.I have now moved my classroom indoors and I currently work as a learning specialist at a High School in East Boston, MA. My role is teaching students with learning disabilities and my primary subjects of focus are math and chemistry. I also love the Spanish language and teach it whenever possible.

My goal as an educator is to help bridge the gap, supporting students in their struggling areas to embrace their unique gifts as they strive to reach their potential. I strive to help students become lifelong learners, finding a love of learning and understanding its importance for their future. I love traveling and visiting new places and learning more about new cultures. When I have some down time I enjoy spending time with my family and loved ones, including my dog Charlie.

I graduated from Lamar High School in Houston. I am currently attending BYU for college, with an emphasis in international business. I enjoy tutoring Spanish, as I lived in Argentina for two years. I also am willing to tutor in just about any other subject, particularly ACT and IB test prep. I enjoy playing basketball and talking about sports, as well as music. My goal is to teach to where the student understands enough to teach somebody else the material.

I grew up speaking Spanish, then I studied it from 6th grade until the end of my college years. I majored in Spanish and Education for my B.A. from Fisk University and furthered my studies to include Humanities for my M.A. from Old Dominion University. I love teaching Spanish, which is what I currently do in four schools and tutor in my off time. I love to read books, crochet, and play with my toy poodles. Education is very important to me and I love to help people understand how to speak, read, and write Spanish.

I am a current senior at Purdue University double majoring in Sociology and History. Additionally, I am minoring in Spanish and Management. The subjects I primarily tutor include Spanish, English, and Grammar, but I am also available for other subjects and standardized tests. I have studied Spanish for 9 years, and during high school I tutored other younger high schoolers for Spanish. As a fellow student, I believe it is important to feel comfortable and confident in the classroom. In my free time, I like to spend time with friends, bake, read, watch movies, and listen to music.

I earned my first BA in History but always regretted not delaying graduation and changing my major to Spanish. I remedied this by returning to school for a B.A. in Spanish with Arizona State University (online) and will graduate early next year. I have worked in a variety of industries but most recently I have tutored Central American immigrants here at our local library and loved seeing them improve their English. This led me to become TEFL certified. I volunteer as a document translator, translating a variety of documents from Spanish to English for an advocacy group assisting asylum seekers from South and Central America. I'm from a family of readers. I understand the importance of mastering your own language and the enrichment that comes from studying a second language. Reading opens the world and the ability to express oneself through writing and speaking is important to navigating life. I am passionate about word craft, enjoying both academic and creative writing in both of my languages. I love art and have developed my own style of automatic painting. I have travelled in Europe, the Middle East, and the Caribbean and have an appreciation for different cultures and enjoy meeting people from all over the world.

Every student learns in their own unique way. My passion is to discover that learning style and to customize my teaching style in order to fit that unique student. A student who struggles with a certain subject does not necessarily mean lack of ability; it may simply mean that the student is being taught in a manner that is incompatible with his/her learning style. The key is to deliver the material and concepts in a way that is compatible with the student. I am a junior at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill (UNC) in Honors' Carolina--double majoring in Communications/New Media and Mathematics with a minor in Computer Science. I love making connections with other students and building a safe environment to foster growth and encouragement.While I have a pretty diverse palette of experiences, I focus a lot of my time on Mathematics. I took IB Math HL and AP Calculus BC in High School and excelled in both--and am now in high level math courses at UNC. I also love studying media, and love combining artistic forms of expression with technological mediums! Currently really into video game design, and am building my own PC!
