I am a graduate from San Diego State University with a Bachelors in Mathematics. As a Mathematics for Single Subject Teaching major, I am able to utilize several different methods to help you learn the material. I'm not a boring tutor and I absolutely hate going ONLY by the book. I'll use real world examples and show you unique ways to remember any steps for any problems you are facing. You will learn the process of thinking, not just solving.Instead of showing you how to do one single problem at a time, I will show you different ways to look at a problem and figure out the best approach to solve it.I am also bilingual since Spanish is my first language. I can read, speak, and write in Spanish very well and that is another tool I have at my disposal if necessary for explaining any types of concepts.

I firmly believe that education is the key to success in all students' lives and strive to instill this belief in all of my students. Language acquisition of any kind opens up many new opportunities and advancements, both professional and personal. I believe that tutoring is a partnership with the student, family,and myself. My experience as a teacher is extensive and has several aspects: on the one hand, the theoretical-practical teaching of Biology at the secondary level and, on the other hand, I was a science laboratory and Scientific Research teacher for the 7th to 12th grades, during two years in Puerto Rico. Previously, in the Dominican Republic, I worked as an English language teacher for children and adults for three years. I always do my best to help my students achieve their academic goals.

Just graduated from the University of Arkansas with my B.S. in kinesiology and a minor in spanish.I am now attending medical school at KUMC.I enjoy exercise, current events/following the news, investing, spending time outdoors, and going out with friends

In each of these settings, I made sure to get to know my students really well so that I could find ways to make our sessions fun and engaging. Building that relationships with my students is important because it allows students to feel more comfortable about communicating what they are struggling with or any concerns about our session.Among the things that my students and their parents enjoy about working with me is my approachability, sense of humor, and dedication to ensuring their success. With a degree in Spanish Education and over four years of experience as a teacher, I am dedicated to helping students achieve academic goals in a fun and supportive environment.Before moving to Portland, I held a position as a third grade teacher, developing course materials and leading activities to allow students to discover math and science concepts in a hands-on setting. Instilling healthy reading and clear writing skills, while inspiring positive behavior and respectful interactions between students to develop a healthy learning environment.I also spent one year as a Spanish instructor for kindergarten and first grade students. I designed a beginning Spanish language and culture curriculum, and created age appropriate materials and techniques to lead students in songs and group activities. For the last seven years, I taught all over the country (Charleston, SC, Nashville, TN, Portland, OR, and Vancouver, WA) and also earned a master's degree in education from Johns Hopkins University along the way.I hated math as a kid because my teachers always made me feel stupid in class for not understanding right away. I became a math teacher because I saw how many people get stuck in their education and careers when they run into trouble in math class. Working with me, you will understand how capable you are and will never have to feel embarrassed for learning. Come to class to ask questions and learn with me!

I began tutoring through a volunteer music lessons program in college, and have since instructed students in a variety of subjects, including writing and psychology. I love to help students improve academically through a cooperative teaching style. My favorite memories of tutoring include learning that one of my students received her first ever "A" on a paper that I helped her write, and when a junior high clarinet student earned first chair after a playing test. With every student, I aim to discover and use how he or she learns best in order to teach most effectively. By presenting information in a way that is simple and relatable, I hope to help students not just memorize, but really understand the subject. Additionally, I try to teach students the skills that they need to solve problems independently. I am passionate about helping students to improve in all academic areas.

During my experience as an instructor at the University of Washington, keeping my students constantly engaged always constituted a priority, and allowed me to obtain excellent results.For the past two and a half years, I have passionately taught more than 380 lessons to more than 100 diverse students, by leading in-class individual and group activities and discussions, and by providing them with tailored and individual assistance in person or electronically. I have also tutored several students outside of the academic environment.Combining my natural passion for teaching and mentoring, my inclination to establish meaningful and stimulating interactions with students, and my deep knowledge of many disciplines, I have become an effective instructor.I offer tutoring and lessons in many disciplines, including: Italian Language and Culture, Spanish, ESL, European History, Essay Writing and Editing, and preparation for standardized tests, including TOEFL and GRE.
