I currently teaching writing - creative and academic- at Boston University and at Summer Ink, a Simmons University program. During my time at BU, I taught creative writing courses at both the undergraduate and pre-college level. For my undergraduate degree, I studied both English and Education, earning my English Secondary Teaching Certificate in Pennsylvania. After graduating, I moved to Budapest to teach history, art, writing, and music for three years. During my fourth year in Hungary, I trained interpreters for the EU and taught literature, philosophy, and rhetoric in an American high school. I've had a lot of experience teaching ESL and preparing students for the IELTS, TOEFL, and Cambridge English Exams, and I use engaging, innovative methods which are tailored to the interests and needs of each student.

Hello! I'm currently in graduate school pursuing a Masters in social work from The Ohio State University and have a BA in community education from the University of West Florida. I'm passionate about education and providing equal access to education. I believe in strengths based approaches, and love to make learning fun and engaging by utilizing a student's passions and skills.I have experience as a paraprofessional in elementary and high school settings. In both environments, I assisted students who were English language learners and students that had disabilities. These experiences have allowed me to develop my approach to instruction and assist struggling learners gain the knowledge and skills to meet their academic goals. For example, the students I have worked with have made significant gains in reading, with their test scores improving by up to two grade levels.

I believe that all children have the right and access to a great education that helps them reach their maximum potential so that they may live choice filled lives.I believe it is important to set goals with students and their families and frequently monitor on the progress students are making towards their individual goals. Students thrive when they receive direct instruction. I pride myself in collecting data and using that data to inform instruction so that it is tailored to meet the needs of the student.

I am passionate about helping students because I love watching them have that "light bulb" moment. I also believe that a student who does not like school can begin to like school if they get the proper help and guidance in subjects. I have worked with K-3 students and 5th graders. I just graduated college and I am now a licensed teacher. I can tutor elementary math, science, reading, writing, and social studies. My favorite subjects to tutor are writing, reading, and science. These were my favorite subjects when I was in school, and they help lay the foundation for other subjects. If a student is a kinesthetic or visual learner it is also fun to work with experiments or little projects with them to help them grasp concepts.
