I am a graduate of Southwestern University, where I received my degree in art history and am currently pursuing my master's of library science from the University of North Texas. I'm so very interested in helping students because it is my ultimate pleasure to help people learn and see them enjoy what they are learning. I have a fair amount of experience with students (generally children): I have served as an education intern at an historical museum, mentored middle school students, worked at a children's museum, and taught children of preschool age all the way up till eighth grade. The subject in my tutoring repertoire is art history (specifically preparing for the Advanced Placement Art History exam). I particularly enjoy tutoring this subject because I am so familiar with it. As a high school student, my interest in art history was piqued because of a great teacher, so I'd love to cultivate the same feeling in my students. I've spent the past 12 years with an Autistic student who recently received his Ph.D in Systems Science/Mathematics. We've also been studying for the Society of Actuaries examinations.I spend most of the rest of my time designing/programming sequencers, synthesizers and strange effects processors in Max/MSP. My latest creations include a sequencer that uses Markov Chains and Genetic Algorithms to generate melodies, rhythms and harmonize groups of instruments. I also recently made a Real-Time Time Stretch and Pitch Shifter using Granular Synthesis. Lots of crazy fun.

After being adopted and coming to the states, I quickly mastered English. I am currently in the process of being a certified free-lance sign language interpreter. I began my Spanish, French, and German studies since the 8th grade and I have never looked back. I knew at a very young age that I would want a career and life centered in the complexity and beauty of languages.Languages are my passion and I am constantly driven to discover new words, slang terminology, and expressions as they are relevant to specific formal and social situations. My dream career is to work as a translator/interpreter at the United Nations one day and I believe that becoming a Varsity Tutor will give me solid skills and training to achieve that goal. I'm a recent mathematics graduate from the University of North Texas. I do research in algebra and geometry, and I also love to teach. I've been tutoring for over 3 years now privately and with a company called Mathnasium. I have grown to become very passionate about teaching and I'm constantly trying to improve my technique so that I can help my students truly learn.I tutor subjects anywhere from Algebra I and II to Calculus III, and beyond (any undergraduate mathematics course (other than, perhaps, probability and statistics)). I also teach test preparation for various high school and undergraduate tests such as the ACT/SAT and GRE or GMAT. I love to teach these subjects, and I've been doing so for the three years I've been a tutor. I like to guide students in training them how to ask themselves questions, rather than me giving direct information to them. I feel that this is the best way to learn a subject. On the side, I like to teach guitar and drawing.

I just graduated from the University of Texas-Austin with a B.A. in Psychology, a Business Foundations Certificate from McCombs, and a minor in German with a GPA of 3.92! I was a straight A student in high school as well, and took all advanced and AP classes. When I was at one of my high schools in Louisiana, the classes were all done online. I managed to finish all of the requirements for high school when I was only 14! Unfortunately, many of my classmates struggled without the presence of a teacher, and I began tutoring them. I tutored students from many different backgrounds in all subjects of high school for over 6 months, and greatly enjoyed it and would like to tutor again.Now, having just graduated with my undergraduate degree, I am looking to begin tutoring as a true mentor, and not as a classmate. I have always excelled in and enjoyed the classroom setting. I scored a 34 composite on my ACT and 2120 on my SAT, and would be happy to help with the challenges of preparing for standardized tests, as well as regular subjects for school. Through the use of your or your child's textbook/test prep materials and problems that I assign for practice, I will make sure that you or your child is fully equipped for success!Both learning and teaching provide me with a great sense of reward, and I am looking forward to tutoring (and learning from) you or your child.
