Hi there! My name is Evan and I'm a rising senior at Duke University. At Duke, I designed my own major called "Documenting Justice: The Role of Photographic Narratives in Activism." I'm passionate about documentary photography and social movements, and my degree program gives me the wonderful opportunity to study both! Although my course of studies is pretty social sciences/humanities based, I absolutely LOVE math! I was a huge math geek in high school and I love any opportunity I get to spread that enthusiasm for math to other students.Outside of my academic interests, I love playing music and writing new songs for my guitar, ukulele, and harmonica. I'm also a Netflix aficionado and may or may not have binge-watched all nine seasons of The Office multiple times.I'm passionate about ensuring that all students reach their full potential. I'd love to work with you and help you become the best in whatever subject you're looking to improve!

I believe that every student is capable of obtaining knowledge in any given field. Everyone has a class or field that they naturally struggle in (mine is art), but enough time for extra thought and effort will make your goals in the class achievable. I enjoy helping provide that effort and achievement. I graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a Bachelor's of Science in Actuarial Science & Economics in April/2014, and graduated from DePaul University with a Master's of Science in Applied Mathematics. I currently work for the Bureau of Labor Statistics as an Economist.I always liked using numbers to quantify and interpret certain problems; strange to some I know.I will be glad to tutor anyone in courses that require math and/or economic reasoning. Asking why and how a problem is done instead of just asking for the answer is what I'm looking for in a student. I can be of assistance for the whole semester or just for a test coming up for the class. As long as we are scheduling time to ask why and how to approach the problems, I am on board.

I am a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, where I received a Bachelor of Arts inBiology (with a Neurobiology concentration). In high school, as a member of the National Honor Society, I was involved in peer tutoring. I would arrive to school early one day a week and tutor students that needed help with a class (any subject). I can tutor math - up to and including calculus I (AP Calculus AB), biology, chemistry, organic chemistry, and physics. Additionally, having taken both the SAT, SAT Subject tests in Math and Biology, and the MCAT. I can tutor students for these tests as well. My favorite subject to tutor is biology; I find it to be the most interesting science because it deals with life and how living things function (my goal is to go to medical school, so I have a great deal of interest in living things). I like to incorporate real life examples as well as demonstrations into my tutoring to help students better grasp concepts, especially ones that are more abstract (for example, using the analogy of water slides to explain flow dynamics in physics or using different color Skittles to explain mitosis/meiosis in biology). Also, especially for tests like the MCAT, I can talk about the actual test – what to expect on test day, any preparations to make going into the test, what to do the day before the test. I am a huge sports fan, and in my spare time, I love watching and playing sports (I played football in high school and currently play roller hockey). I am a huge fan of all Philadelphia sports teams. Additionally, I like to read, hang out with my friends, watch TV/movies, and occasionally play video games.

My professional life has taken many turns and unexpected assignments, many of which are different from what I studied in College, and later in Grad School. I have been a teacher, a researcher, an environmental consultant, a project evaluator, a lab technician, a property manager, among other things. I have performed fairly well at all these tasks, and it is because I think that as long as you have a strong back ground and a strong education, you can always research, study and learn new things, and develop you own strategies to allow you to respond favorably to a variety of topics and tasks. My favorite one has been teaching, and among all topics I have taught, STATISTICS is the one that I enjoyed the most. I had great professors for this subject who made clear one thing to me: statistics is a great science that allows you to improve your decision-making process and make you a better scientist.

Hello! My name is Evan Leshinskie, and I am a first-year law student at the University of Utah S.J Quinney School of Law. I recently graduated Magna Cum Laude from Pepperdine University with my Bachelor's of Arts in Economics. I tutor a wide range of subjects, but I have the most experience working with students in SAT, ACT, LSAT, and AP/college economics. I have a laid-back tutoring style, but I make sure to present the content in the most simplified way I can to ensure students understand the material through guided practice. I have been tutoring with Varsity Tutors for over three years now, and I previously served as the course tutor for several of Pepperdine's upper-division economics courses. In my spare time, I love to watch movies and tv shows, exercise, and spend time with my dogs.

I am a graduate of Emory University and received a Bachelor of Science in both Biology and Anthropology. My collegiate coursework focused heavily on the biological sciences, including evolutionary Biology, Microbiology, Ecology, Biological Anthropology and Math. I have been passionate about science since I was a child and have always enjoyed sharing that passion with others. As a long-time member of the Boy Scouts of America and with three younger brothers, mentoring and teaching has been a large part of my life and something I sincerely enjoy. It is my wish to not only help others gain factual knowledge, but to ignite an academic curiosity and the determination to constantly discover more about the world around us. Connecting with the student is of utmost importance. A mutual trust is necessary in order to not only help the student learn, but to help them become most confident in their great abilities. While not tutoring, I enjoy hiking and camping, and am currently planning to pursue a graduate degree in the field of development.

I am a master's student at Western Washington University studying how nitrogen moves around an ecosystem. I did my undergraduate at Michigan Tech University where I studying Environmental Sciences and Math, which consequently are my two favorite subjects to tutor! While these two may seem very different, at their core, they're all about how things work. I've always found that if you peak behind the curtain at how something works, nothing is as scary or difficult as it may seem. Let's figure it out together!
