I believe I can teach mathematics to anyone who wants to learn it, for whatever reason. The motivation is the most important factor. I happen to love the subject, and this just means that I enjoy talking about it and communicating about it. Mathematics is about knowing what you know, and knowing what you do not know - what could be more important than that?

I have taught at various grade levels, including small and large scale class sizes, and provided individualized tutoring for much of my career. Teaching is my passion and it's fulfilling to take someone along the journey of growth in the subject area of interest.I hold a BS in Psychology, an MA in Clinical Psychology, and a PhD in Psychology. I have numerous peer-reviewed journal publications focusing on various aspects of psychology.I have a wealth of experience utilizing statistics and various available software programs, both in the research work that I've been involved in as well as in the training that I have conducted with students at all levels.Beyond mere subject area expertise, I know what it takes to complete courses, how to prepare and take tests/exams, maximize the time spent in class/tutor sessions, and ultimately create effective study habits that help master course content and requirements.

I received my bachelors degree in sociology from the University of Florida and am currently in the process of applying to medical school. In the meantime, I am doing research as an intern at the Centers for Disease Control. I have always had a great love for learning and teaching has become a natural extension of that. I worked for the University of Florida Athletic Association tutoring student-athletes in Advanced Sociological Theory. This was a challenging experience as I had to make very dense, academic readings accessible to students and help them communicate ideas through writing. I have also tutored high school students for the SAT and ACT. In my spare time, I like to play guitar and follow my favorite sports teams. I can teach many subjects including math, science, social science, history, Latin, and Spanish to name a few. I like to not only help students get better grades but also develop the critical thinking skills that are the foundation for many subjects and disciplines.

My first math lesson was when I was three years old. When I learned how to add numbers, I realized that there are numerous ways to find a solution, which propelled me to math being my favorite subject. I enjoyed seeing how numbers, logic, and operations come together. Now as a college student pursuing a dual degree in Finance and Business Analytics, I need to apply these math concepts into the business world.Out of all the subjects I have taken, math has been the consistent honors class I take every year. In other words, I always take the highest offered math course that school year allows me to take. In my 5th grade honors math class, I got the highest prealgebra pretest grade out of the whole class. While other students scored in the 50s, I got a 82. Since then, I knew math was my passion. I also did math league competitions and math Olympiad throughout middle and high school. I understood everything the teacher said and quickly became a secondary teacher for my classmates outside the classroom. My first tutoring experience took place in high school. While I took the most accelerated math subjects, I assisted others on their lower math subjects-subjects I took years before. I took my interest of math into AP Statistics, AP Calc, and Multivariable Calc and loved how the symbols created almost a new language of math. When I tutor students, my biggest advice is to understand and memorize the concept before applying formulas and operations into the problem. Practice is a big emphasis to succeed, especially higher degree math. I can teach basically any type of math lower than multivariable calculus, with exception to geometry, since I am not as strong as algebra or calculus. I really do not have a favorite math subject to tutor, since they all connect with each other and I have different styles to teach each of them.Outside of math, I am a big sports fan, and love applying statistics to specific teams and players. I also love playing poker.
