I have worked as a teaching assistant of Math 155r (Combinatorics) at Harvard University, where I got my B.A. in Applied Mathematics in 2017, and will be teaching (most likely) Calculus starting in the fall of 2017, while I begin my Ph.D. in Mathematics at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. I have worked as a tutor (ranging from middle school to high school/SAT math) since 2010, and have also enjoyed tutoring other subjects, such as SAT English, physics, and chemistry. I am extremely invested in making challenging topics less intimidating and am happy to work with students of all levels!I have worked as a math tutor since 2010, and really enjoy working with students to help find contexts that make mathematics more understandable and relatable. Further, I am personally very interested in mathematics, since I will be working in math research/teaching as a graduate student.I became proficient in French in 2013 following high school, after which I have maintained proficiency by taking upper-level French courses and taking part in immersive experiences such as working for French-speaking families. Since I grew up a native English speaker, I understand the difficulties that come with learning a new language, and am excited to help people work through these challenges and enjoy the benefits of multilingualism.

ACCUPLACER Arithmetic Tutor • +18 Subjects

I love to help students see math as a serious of puzzles or patterns that lead them to that 'AHA!' moment when they truly understand what is going on! I have been a math teacher for the past five years, teaching courses such as Geometry, Trigonometry, Statistics and Probability, Algebra 2, Algebra 3, Introduction to College Algebra, and College Algebra. I was also a Teacher's Assistant for Calculus in College. I graduated summa cum laude from Saint John's University with a major in Mathematics and a minor in Secondary Education. While teaching, I also attended Southwest Minnesota State University, obtaining a Masters of Science in Education, Learning, and Leadership along with an additional 18-credit emphasis in Mathematics. My favorite subject to tutor is Statistics because it is so applicable to anyone's favorite interests. My tutoring philosophy is to connect new material to a student's prior learning. The beauty of math is that it builds on itself, so when you find what a student already knows, teaching them something new is just connecting that new topic to material they already feel confident about! I became a math teacher to help students become the best version of themselves and to find success in life! That is my goal as a tutor as well: to help you find success and to continue to become a better version of yourself!

I am a professor in political science at North Carolina Central University and have spent the past 10 years teaching and mentoring students with a variety of academic interests and from diverse backgrounds. Nothing makes me happier than helping students achieve their goals and learn new things. I have been committed to education my whole adult life and I am excited to offer my help to all those interested. I received my PhD in political science from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2012 and a BA in political science and history from the University of Florida. I tutor a wide array of subjects in the social sciences and humanities, with a particular focus on comparative politics, writing, and statistics. The study of politics has always been my passion for as long as I can remember. Statistics, on the other hand, was a bit of a struggle, but I persevered and am now an expert in the field. Given my own uphill battle with the subject, it is now one of my favorite areas to tutor I have a great deal of sympathy for anyone struggling with stats, but I promise that I can help you! I have spent a great deal of my time traveling through Europe and have conducted fieldwork in Spain, France, Hungary, and Italy.

My sense of humor follows the 80/20 rule: 80% of my jokes work about 20% of the time. When I teach a class, if I haven't made them laugh at least once then I've failed.I know what it's like to suffer as a math student. Math was my hardest subject in high school and even made me cry sometimes. When I got to Calculus, though, everything came together and I came to see the beauty in mathematics. I continued this cycle of suffering followed by joyful understanding when I studied math in college and then grad school, and now that I'm finally out of academia, I can relax and share my experience with others. When I engage in an hour of private tutoring I tend to go over-time by around fifteen minutes if I need to do so to wrap up whatever we were working on. Teaching is a passion, a calling, and a compulsion for me.

I'm Yosef, a doctoral fellow earning my Ph.D. in Child Clinical Psychology; I currently work and receive training as a child therapist as well. I have had a been educated in a variety of subjects since college, that include Biology, Chemistry, Statistics, and of course, Social Sciences. I have a passion for education and I enjoy teaching and tutoring. Personally, I believe that educating a child involves much more than stating facts and hoping they listen. Children learn best when they are rewarded for trying (I am a big fan of scheduled positive reinforcements) and when they can why studying a subject is importance. I have worked in behavioral management and therapy for several years and I know how to inspire children to learn and eventually develop their own motivation for trying.

AAI - Accredited Adviser in Insurance Tutor • +42 Subjects

With a Ph.D. in Statistics and over fifteen years of teaching experience, I have devoted my career to helping students transform uncertainty into understanding and anxiety into confidence. My teaching journey has spanned introductory and advanced coursesincluding AP Statistics, Regression Analysis, and Probabilityand I take great pride in seeing my students not only master the material but truly enjoy it.I am especially passionate about helping students who once believed they "just aren't math people." Over the years, I've guided future actuaries to pass their exams, mentored undergraduates through challenging statistical projects, and supported learners from diverse backgrounds in discovering that mathematics can be both logical and creative. My teaching philosophy centers on clarity, connection, and curiosity. I use interactive lectures, collaborative problem-solving, and real-world examplesfrom sports analytics to biomedical researchto make abstract ideas tangible and exciting. What I enjoy most about tutoring is witnessing that spark of realization when a student grasps a concept they once found intimidating. My goal is to equip each learner with both the technical skills and the self-belief to excel academically and apply quantitative thinking with confidence in their future careers.Outside of academia, I find inspiration in swimming and long walks, which often spark new ideas for making lessons more engaging. I see tutoring not just as teachingbut as building a partnership that empowers students to think critically, grow independently, and find joy in learning.
