Hello! My name is Qays (like "rice" but with a "k" = "Kice") Abu-Saymeh, and I recently graduated from the University of Kansas Honors Program with a Bachelor of Science in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology and Psychology. This fall I will be attending medical school in Kansas City.As an undergraduate teaching assistant for the introductory biology course in college, I focused on assisting the professor with teaching biological concepts in a one-on-one and group setting. I would assist by creating workshops that allowed me to assess student's learning and help with understanding specific materials that they struggled with. By also having office hours frequently, I became well-versed in different learning styles of students and answering their questions. Additionally, weekly meetings were held with the professor and other teaching assistants to ensure student success by discussing their responses and preparing for administering the material for the following week. Through this experience, I have developed essential training skills for working with different learning preferences and accommodating student's needs resulting in positive feedback at the end of each semester with my students.Prior to college, I have had tutoring experience with students from K-12 years in many different subjects including Reading and Comprehension, Mathematics (Algebra to Calculus 3), Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science), and History. Leading sessions in these subjects with students helped them improve their proficiency in all areas and build on their learning skills. Having this knowledge, I also provide tutoring services for the ACT.As a future medical student, I have had great review over MCAT related subjects including Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Reading and Comprehension, Psychology, and Sociology.

I enjoy working with students to help them reach their maximum potential. As a current college student, I have tutored students in elementary school all the way up through the age of my current peers. In preparation for college, I took the ACT multiple times and in the process learned a great deal of tips and strategies that are useful for raising scores. I believe in helping students truly understand the material, not just memorize it. I look forward to working with you and helping you reach your goals!

Nothing is more rewarding than helping someone to make a connection; learn something new or difficult; or to see how they apply this new understanding. Some information can be dry, scary, or very difficult to learn, but I think learning should not only be productive, but also fun.

I recently graduated from the University of Kansas (Rock Chalk!) with a B.A. in History and a B.A. in Anthropology, with honors and with distinction as a Global Scholar. I am now a law student at Washington University in St. Louis School of Law, a top 20 Law school according to US News. I enjoy tutoring for standardized tests, particularly the LSAT, as well as helping students improve in history, reading, and writing skills. When I'm not working or going to school I enjoy spending time with dog Loki, swimming, reading, and planning my next big travel plan

I am a second year medical student at the University of Kansas School of Medicine with an interest in surgery. I hope to make a difference in the world, be it large or small and through teaching I can accomplish that!

I'm studying at Utah State University majoring in biology with minors in chemistry and psychology. I'm especially interested in genetics. I love both making and listening to music. I lived in Estonia for about a year and learned to speak Estonian so that part of the world has a special place in my heart. I like to meet new people and am always looking for learning opportunities.

I am currently a 4th year medical student at the University of Kansas, pursuing family medicine and maternal health. While I've tutored a variety of subjects in the past, I am especially passionate about teaching math and science. These are two subjects I am personally very interested in and have had success passing on my excitement to students. I also enjoy preparing students for test prep (ACT) and elementary and middle school-age students. My approach to teaching is to understand the student as an individual. I like to understand the student's strengths and weaknesses and work from there to expand their knowledge in a given subject. My goal is to push each of my students to venture beyond their limits and understand each concept, rather than learning the steps of a process.

I am a graduate of Washburn University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with a focus on special education. After graduation I began teaching in the Gardner/ Edgerton school district. During my five years as an educator, I had the opportunity to teach a variety of grade levels including 6th, 4th, and 2nd. While I tutor a variety of subjects, I am most passionate about math and reading. There is nothing more fulfilling than helping a young person recognize their potential and giving them tools to help them succeed. I believe a solid, well-rounded education is undeniably one of the most important things in life. In my spare time I enjoy playing with my twin daughters, being outdoors, playing soccer, and just relaxing with a good book.

I received my education from Michigan State University and The University of Central Missouri, where I graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Minor in Spanish. I graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Master of Arts in Teaching English as a Second Language (ESL).I have 9 years of teaching experience as a Preschool, Elementary & College level instructor. I've taught general education courses, ESL, Spanish Native Language Literacy and a University Writing course. I love teaching!My favorite subjects to tutor are ESL, Reading, Writing, Grammar and Spanish. My tutoring style involves getting to know each other and sharing our interests, discovering my student's goals and preferred learning styles, and having fun while we learn!My interests outside of academia include reading, running, hiking with my two young daughters, travelling, eating sushi and attending concerts with my husband.
