Hello! My name is Angelika. I am a senior at Fordham University majoring in Biology and minoring is Disability Studies. I expect to graduate Spring 2023. I have tutored since the 7th grade and I love to help people understand concepts that they previously struggled with. I tutor in a variety of subjects but I am most passionate about Algebra, the SAT Grammar section, and the SAT Math Section. I believe that curating a unique approach for each individual is important in their advancement. Everybody is different and therefore their way of learning will be different too! This has helped many of my students raise their grades and confidence when it comes to their studies. In my free time, I enjoy watching cooking videos on YouTube and going to the gym!

After earning my Bachelors of English Teaching, I went to graduate school to obtain my Masters of Education, along with teaching license.I have been tutoring in secondary English Language Arts (ELA) for the last two years as well as taught secondary ELA in my student teaching. I covered subjects from the basics of grammar and writing mechanics to critical theory and Shakespeare. I love finding the interesting aspects of English and how they relate our world as a whole and connect across time to bring a deeper understanding of importance. With tutoring, I enjoy a conversational approach along the lines of the assignment to bring to light new ideas and understanding for students and myself. I look forward to working together!

Hello! I am currently a graduate level student that will begin work towards my Human Health and Environmental Systems MPH at Oregon Health and Science University in the fall. I held my first tutoring job in high school, where I spent after school and summers working with local elementary school students on reading, writing, and math skills. I loved the rare chance to see the look on a child's face when a tricky concept they had been struggling with suddenly made sense.More recently, I have been working at the Washington State University Vancouver Writing Center. There I did both face-to-face and online consultations with students about pieces of their writing. We would discuss the papers ideas, argument, organization, flow, grammar mechanics, and citation style. When working with papers, I follow strategies that we were taught to use at the writing center, which include reading papers out loud to help find problematic sentences, doing reverse outlines to check the organization and effectiveness of the papers argument, and teaching the sandwich method of using quotes to help students avoid overusing other people's words.My favorite concept to explain from my time working at the writing center is how to use semicolons! Many people are both confused and scared by that particular piece of punctuation, but it's actually fairly simple to get the hang of if explained in plain language (rather than what I think of as 'grammar language'). I always enjoyed having regulars that came in stop me to show off their effective use of a semi-colon in a paper, when they have previously been too uncomfortable to use it.While I have not previously tutored in sciences or standardized testing, I am very knowledgable in the sciences due to my degree in Environmental Science and can share testing strategies that help avoid making mistakes and falling for trick questions. I believe a tutoring session should be a discussion, rather any type of lecture, where you should feel comfortable enough to ask questions or let me know if something isn't working. Personally, I struggle in math and never thought I would be able to get a degree that requires the math skills that my BS did and MPH will. However, I now believe that anyone can succeed in any subject, as long as the information is presented in ways that they can understand and they put in the hard work needed to make success happen.

I am a passionate audiophile with a very eclectic music taste, with a concentration in classical music. I grew up in Normandie, France and also in Code d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast). I have resided in France, the UK, Germany and in the USA since 1996. I have worked in sales management most of my career.I am now a dual French/USA citizen. I enjoy French culture very much and love to share that passion with others.

As a PT, I work in the outpatient realm and am most knowledgeable in orthopedics and sports medicine. I understand how stressful studying for the NPTE can be, and having passed the exam in 2018 I am familiar with its current format. I hope that I can help students get over this hurdle so that they can start their careers on the right foot.

I spent time in Dresden, attended a Realgymnasium for a year in Vienna, Austria and most recently worked on fellowship for five months in the German Bundestag. There I conducted research for my parliamentarian, Dagmar Freitag, and interpreted at official functions. Italian I have been learning since since 2008 and now speak at a proficient level.During this process, I have also enjoyed teaching German and Italian at summer immersion camps, and on a one-on-one basis with middle school, high school and college students. It wasn't until I made it to college that I realized I wanted to be a scientist. As a high school student, I was exceptionally mediocre at school. Fortunately I was accepted to Western Washington University. It was my time at Western that I found what I was capable of. Chemistry, and mathematics are such daunting subjects, I never imagined I would be able to grasp them, after all academics were not my strong suit. Through hard work, endless study sessions, and a blossoming passion I was able to prevail and call myself a scientist. My dream is to one day become a professor of biochemistry; a pursuit near to my heart. Biochemical interpretations of the world around us fascinate me, and I would like to share my excitement for the subject with you.
