I'm a recent graduate from University of Minnesota. I completed a dual degree in psychology and mathematics. I have been tutoring for more than a year and I am looking forward to meeting new students here and helping them achieve their goals.

Helping students always brings me great joy and excitement! I have always loved being able to see the "lightbulb" go off when things finally click for students! I have been a tutor for over four years, with three years experience of mathematics tutoring experience and one year of early elementary tutoring. While receiving my undergraduate degree, I was a mathematics tutor for my university tutoring a wide variety of math subjects, including some computer science courses. Currently, I have received my Bachelor's degree in mathematics and biology and am pursuing my Master's degree in Public Health. My favorite mathematics courses to tutor include Algebra, Calculus, and Trigonometry! When I am with a student, I always strive to make sure I fully understand what questions the tutee may have during the session, and ensure that I am able to answer these to the best of my ability. I love using both visual and auditory methods to ensure I am able to relay my information as best as I can! Since I received multiple semesters of training for tutoring in my undergrad, I am able to accommodate students to however they are best able to learn, whether that is more visuals or using alternative explanations. Although I am extremely passionate about Mathematics, other areas I am interested in include History and Science!

I first became interested in working with students in high school. I enjoy teaching and watching students understand a topic that was once challenging to them and being able to go on to teach their peers. Nothing is as rewarding as learning something new and I love being a part of that process. I currently attend the University of Minnesota as a Political Science major and am due to graduate early in 2016. After graduation, I hope to work for a non-profit organization and move abroad!

I am currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at the University of Evansville, Indiana studying archaeology and classical studies. I also have additional college credits through the University of Minnesota and the University of Northwestern, St. Paul. I recently graduated with a chemistry degree from St. Olaf College, and when I wasn't in the lab, I was probably in our music building, practicing some Rachmaninoff or singing some Schubert. While both music and science are massive parts of my life, Ive decided to continue with a career in chemistry, primarily within the pharmaceuticals and medical device industry. To prepare myself, I took a variety of upper-level courses, including advanced organic chemistry, biochemistry, and advanced inorganic chemistry, and by participating in analytical, organic, and biophysical chemistry research for over two years. Thanks to my hard work, Im now contracted at Medtronic, using my chemistry toolbox to help solve real world problems! For me, tutoring is the best way for me to give back to those who have taught me so much.During college, I TAed for the one class that is the bane of school for most students: organic chemistry. I worked with all sorts of students, ranging from pre-med football players to graduate-school-bound biology majors. Regardless of the student, they usually had the same questions: how can I succeed in ochem? The way I see it, organic is a whole new language, and, like a language, you have to spend hours practicing the basics before you finally feel a bit comfortable with it. To help speed up this process, Ive developed techniques, strategies, and methods for students to get the most of their learning. No more memorizing reactions or mechanismsinstead, I like to focus on basic concepts, like electronegativity and acid-base trends, to help rationalize and categorize the "magic" that goes on in organic chemistry. Moreover, I like to apply this kind of thinking throughout all of chemistry and biology, and its worked well for a variety of students Ive tutored. Most importantly, I try to make meaningful connections or analogies between chemistry and the world, making it easier to see just how cool chemistry can be.While I could probably spend almost all day in the lab, I like to keep myself busy with other things. In my free time, other than studying opera or jamming out with my friends, I like to cook (nothing better than homemade pasta and sauce), bake, and be outdoorseither rollerblading, water skiing (if its summer), Nordic skiing (if its winter), hiking, or biking.
