I am a current sophomore at Stanford University and am working towards a degree in Mathematical and Computational Science. I am also a Lead Math Tutor at Stanford's Center for Teaching and Learning, where I tutor Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Single and Multi-variable Calculus. When I was in high school, I also tutored Elementary, Middle, and High School students at a local library in various subjects with an emphasis on Math and English.Not surprisingly, my favorite subject to tutor is math. To many people, math is just a jumble of numbers and an exercise of memorization. I was fortunate enough to be able to view math as a puzzle a series of steps that solves a mystery. As I have continued my studies in math, I have come to believe it is essential as it helps to develop problem solving skills as well as fundamental principles of logic. I've been working with young people for over seven years in lots of different settings, but after starting college I realized how much I loved teaching. Most recently, I've been working with students in outdoor education and in other alternative learning settings, and am considering becoming a classroom teacher. My years of education experience have helped me develop some strategies for students who struggle in school and with tests.My favorite subjects to tutor are science, history, and English. I also work in general homework help, test prep, and organization skills. I like to tutor history and English especially, because being able to have a conversation about a subject really helps me learn. By finding these leverage points, I can help them develop good habits and new strategies to create success in their schoolwork. I believe that everyone can be successful in school, but it's a matter of finding a custom plan for each individual. In my years of working with students, I know that everyone is different and what works for one student may not work for another. I received my Bachelor's degree in Psychology at UC Davis, and I am currently a Master's student at California State San Marcos studying Experimental Psychology. My research involves studying peptide influences on maternal behavior in mice, specifically peptides related to stress and alertness. I have a passion for statistics and research methods. My goals for the future involves getting a Ph. D. in behavioral neuroscience and eventually working as a researcher and/or college professor. Through the Master's program, I have had much experience working with undergraduate students helping them with statistical procedures and planning research proposals. I am also currently teaching a section of an Introductory Psychology class at CSU San Marcos. My favorite areas in which to tutor would hands down be statistics and research methods. As a tutor, I value the interaction with students, as I love to be a mentor and provide guidance in both academics and life management strategies. I have many other interests outside of academia, including rock climbing, juggling (I can juggle 7 balls), playing guitar and piano, snowboarding, riding my road bike, going on hikes, and playing board games.

History buff and Italian language enthusiast!I am a European History graduate from University of California, Santa Cruz. I am incredibly passionate about the history of Europe over the course of the last hundred years and the impacts that major historical events, such as the rise and fall of fascism, had on the development of the world as we know it. I believe that this strong passion can be put into good use to educate and help others understand the importance of history and where it can lead us. I am particularly interested in educating and researching events surrounding the marginalization and persecution of people of different creeds, colors and situations in the hopes that it will illuminate similarities in present times. Through this I hope to find a position that allows me to educate future generations and teach them the importance of equality and prosperity for all.

I graduated summa cum laude from Emerson College, where I received a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Studies and a minor in Writing, Literature, and Publishing. While in college in Boston, I was struck by a quote on the side of the Boston Public Library: "The Commonwealth requires the education of the people as the safeguard of order and liberty." This statement gives me great inspiration as I work with my students. As a tutor, I have worked with students from ages 5 to 25. I tutor many academic subjects, but my favorites are always History, Social Science, English, and Literature. I love these subjects because I often feel they are our greatest keys to understanding why the world behaves as it does. I have taught numerous forms of standardized tests for admittance to high schools and colleges. It is not uncommon for my students to see significant increases in math, reading, and writing sections of these tests. I always find that the best tutoring results come from keeping sessions as fun and engaging as possible while still covering the material. When not tutoring, I teach performance classes in subjects like magic, comedy, and balloon sculpting. When not teaching, I enjoy reading, hiking, travel, and video games.
