I believe you have untapped potential. You may not write the next great American novel way longer than the last tweet you read but maybe you will! I do believe firmly in one thing you have something to say. I believe I can help you find that thing and say it well. I'm passionate about helping students get in touch with what is inside and helping bring that out. I love English and writing and reading. Don't love reading yet? No problem! You'll love it more when you're better at it, which I believe you can get better at it! I love speech and theatre. Hate getting up in front of a group of people? No problem! I can help you both prepare the words and cultivate calm in the moment with mindfulness and meditation practices. These can also be really helpful in test-taking. Also, I have wonderful tips for studying for those tests.I have a Bachelor's in English, minor in Speech and Theatre. I was certified to teach 7-12 grade English/Language Arts; I'm NCLB highly-qualified K-12 Reading. I've taught students from 3rd grade to 12th grade to college freshman to college adults to seminary students. You're welcome! I also have a Masters of Divinity, specializing in pastoral counseling, and a Doctorate of Ministry in leadership and spiritual formation, in case you have any questions in those areas. I believe we're all saved by ARK: Ask clarifying questions, Reflect before responding, Keep advice unless requested. So I'm here to tutor you in what YOU ask for nothing else. You're the driver. I affirm a student-centered approach to teaching. I'm here to adjust and modify to support how you learn and think. I'm here to help you figure out those things about yourself. I'm here to share my joy of life-long learning and encourage your confidence on that journey. Sure, getting tutoring is extra work but it can also be extra FUN!I'm a laughter enthusiast, walker of woods, collector of hats, rescuer of animals, and lover of people. I hope to meet you soon!

ACT Math Tutor • +17 Subjects
I struggled with math all through high school before calculus. At that point something clicked. I learned to love it, and while I majored in Biochemistry at first, I kept taking math courses because I had a real passion for learning about mathematics. Eventually, I changed my major to math and began tutoring Calculus II at my university. Now I manage Calculus I and II tutors, but to keep my skills fresh, I am tutoring through Varsity. Hopefully my love for math and calculus shows, and I hope you learn to love it too!

Teaching others is something I enjoy the most. I believe that to become an excellent tutor one must have a desire to assist students in the learning process, and this is one quality which I feel I definitely possess.I have been tutoring students ages from 10-24 and SAT for 5+ years. I know how to get a student well prepared for any standardized test. I am well familiar with all the techniques to achieve a higher score. I can also show a student how to study effectively so that they do well in school.Outside of tutoring, I'm a Mechanical Engineer.

As a lifelong learner, daughter of scholars, and mother of two I believe that learning to learn facilitates a life of success and contentment. As a classroom teacher, I recognize that students have unique approaches to learning and that one size does not fit all. Tutoring allows me an opportunity to connect individually with a student, determine their learning styles, and approach their challenges with fresh and exciting ways to encourage them to embrace learning.I obtained my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Florida Atlantic University in 2004 with Summa Cum Laude honors. I have taught in Broward County, Florida, in Fort Mill Public Schools as a substitute, and now at a private school in Charlotte.I am an avid reader and knitter, and enjoy being outdoors as much as possible with my 9 year old daughter. My eldest is grown and has left the nest already.I welcome the opportunity to meet with you and help your student achieve maximum success.

I'm passionate about teaching students because I know all students can learn. In my experience, I have worked with students who have special needs, physical disabilities, emotional disabilities, behavioral disabilities, as well as, learning disabilities in a self-contained classroom, resource classroom, Preschool with Disabilities classroom, an afterschool program, and a small home school. By working with these students, I realized I was adept at teaching them new information. The students were at ease with me and trusted me. They understood I cared about them and wanted to see them do well in school. They gravitated toward me and wanted to learn.I have a Bachelor of Science in Elementary & Special Education (Dual Major) from Grand Canyon University (GCU). I began a Master of Education in Educational Administration Degree at GCU. I have a semester yet to graduate with honors Alpha Chi.I tutor in ELA and Math for elementary and middle-grade students. I also tutor in Science and Social Studies, but I prefer ELA and Math because I worked with students in elementary and middle schools in both subjects for six years as a general education and special education teacher. I worked for one year in science and social studies in middle school. My teaching philosophy is that all students can learn. I have taught preschoolers that could not walk, talk, see, hear, feed themselves, etc. No matter the disability or special needs, I have written a goal for it and taught students that were considered unteachable or unable to learn certain skills.I am passionate about teaching students who struggle by using what they CAN do and what they know already to build upon and solidify their knowledge using their favorite things, pictures, videos, and manipulatives with guided instruction, and telling them they can do anything they set their mind to do. I ask my students to try. If they make that deal with me, I can teach them. What I do when I'm not teaching or tutoring online:I live on a homestead with a pond that I have fished since I was seven, so I love to fish and even started kayak fishing. I have organic gardens every year and also grow microgreens and sprouts. A hobby I have taken up recently is metal detecting. I am steadily learning how to pick good targets like coins and jewelry. I still dig up pull tabs off cans and bottle caps (even seasoned metal detectorists do this). I go metal detecting on the beach and land. I enjoy riding an e-bike to metal-detecting sites and to neighboring fishing holes. I will go glamping with my best friends and love to hike trails as well. I love to be outdoors having fun in nature!
