I am a current undergraduate student at Columbia University in New York City, pursuing a Bachelors of Arts in History and Economics. These are two of the subjects that I enjoy tutoring the most, but I also have a penchant for tutoring and learning about math and literature. I am passionate about tutoring because I benefited from the personalized guidance of great tutors in my past and I really enjoy seeing students push themselves and develop an appreciation for subject areas or even the mental exercise of test-taking thanks to tutoring. I also believe that tutoring a subject area is the greatest way to maintain and develop understanding of its material for both the student and the tutor. I was an active tutor in high school in mathematics and history and as I take more classes in college, I look forward to tutoring students in those in which I understood the material really well. In my spare time, I enjoy reading about history, camping, biking, and traveling when I can (or exploring the incredible city of New York)!

I was born and raised in Arkansas but moved to New York City several years ago to attend graduate school at New York University where I received my Master's degree in TESOL in 2011. I have been teaching college classes focusing on reading and writing for the City University of New York ever since, and I truly love my job. I am one of those people who, when they are very old, will say, "I never worked a day in my life!"Teaching has always been my passion and I am so happy for the opportunity to assist students both in the classroom and in more private tutoring sessions. I pride myself in being an understanding and approachable instructor and love when students have questions for me, but I am always happy to take charge and guide the direction of my students' learning if they aren't sure where they'd like to begin.This means that whether you're a student who knows exactly what you want to study and how you want to do it or if you're someone who would rather have your tutor lead the direction of the lessons, I think we could work together well. My favorite thing about teaching is watching the "aha!" moment as children finally understand a concept that may have been challenging for them.I hold a Masters in Education (EdM) from Columbia University as well as a Masters in Music (MM) in vocal performance from the Manhattan School of Music. I like to think that I bring some of the performing spirit into the learning process to make it fun!

It all started with the "Book Buddies" program at my local library on Long Island. Every Wednesday, after school, I would teach struggling elementary school readers how to love reading by helping them finish books and select ones of interest to them. Since then, I have continued to invest a lot of time in tutoring and teaching. In high school, I volunteered my time as a member of the National Honor Society and homework help with with my five younger siblings has always been my responsibility. Now as an undergraduate at The Macaulay Honors College at The City College of New York, I tutor at the Math Center and am enthusiastic about tutoring with Varsity Tutors! What differentiates me from other tutors is my accommodating teaching style and adaptability. For those who cannot stand the subject they are struggling with, I show them the subject's relevance in their life. For those who need more in depth explanations, I show them derivations. Tutoring is not only a skill of mine, but a passion.

Hello, I am originally from Northeastern Scranton Pennsylvania. I have been living in Manhattan NYC for 15 years in the West Village. I have a BA in Spanish/Russian major and French/Italian minor. I also know Portuguese. I have been teaching all of those languages along with ESL at a private international school for the past 5 years. I have a teaching license and also a license in real estate as a salesperson. I studied abroad in Moscow Russia, Madrid Spain, Paris France, and Rome Italy. I also spent the summer in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and six months in Punta Cana, and the Dominican Republic where I taught ESL at an international school. I enjoy teaching and tutoring all of these languages in a safe and fun environment, sharing my knowledge with others.
