I graduated from Emporia State University with a teaching degree in mathematics and six years later completed my masters at Northwest Missouri State University in School Computer Studies. For 15 years I taught junior high and/or high school math as well as teaching adults beginning computer skills through a community college. My favorite class to teach is algebra II since I have enjoyed watching students take the skills they learned in algebra I and geometry and apply those to further their math education. It is my belief that almost all students can master the skills necessary to complete the math courses needed for high school graduation. I am patient and willing to work on skills with students until they understand them and able to use them in their coursework successfully.

I am a doctoral student at Oklahoma State University currently pursuing a doctorate in Environmental Molecular Microbiology and Microbial Ecology. I have taught children grades K through 8th grade about science at Chesterbrook academy and used to work as a chess aide assisting coaches in teaching K through 6th grade chess one on one. As graduate student I also have experience as a instructor teaching laboratory sections. I firmly believe that every student has the potential to succeed if given the tools they need and approach a subject in a manner that best suits their style of learning. I also believe that the key to truly learning a subject is to discover your own way of understanding and interpreting the information and I carry these beliefs into my work. I will work with a student as long as needed to get them to the level of academic performance and understanding they aspire to or that which is required of them.

I am a graduate of Northeastern State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education. Throughout college, I worked at a childcare learning center with all ages ranging from infant to school age (11 years old). Upon graduating college, I took on a 3rd grade teaching position at a high poverty, low income public school. Currently, I teach 1st and 2nd grade at a private school. I am finishing up 4 years of teaching and look forward to many more years. I have a strong passion to see children succeed, even when the odds may be against them. Academically, my passion is to teach children the joy of reading, and help them understand how far it will take them in life. I desire to see children not only succeed, but thrive. By advancing a child's education, children feel better about themselves and it brings me joy and fulfillment to be a part of that. It is of a great importance to me that children are taught to be well-rounded individuals - and their education is only the beginning! While I do love teaching reading, phonics and writing to students, I also love the world of math. Altogether, I feel it is important to foster a problem solving approach in the thinking of children.

As a student, learning new material didn't come easy for me. I remember asking questions and trying various techniques until I was successful in comprehending what I was studying. I was, and still am, extremely grateful to those teachers who worked with me, inspired me and helped me in my learning process. I believe that this desire to help people be successful in their learning, is the principle reason behind me becoming a teacher, and why I have been teaching for over 30 years. I receive great satisfaction in being able to share my experiences and knowledge with learners to help them achieve their desired goals.

I am a very dynamic diverse positive teacher. I master 4 languages: Arabic, French, Berber, and English. I accumulated 14 years experience of diverse work related education. I taught languages and traveled to many countries. Those facts helped me succeed communication with people around 4 continents I have visited. My experience working in varied environments has enabled me to develop a range of practical skills. I am able to manage challenging behavior effectively, conduct activities safely and communicate with people from diverse backgrounds. Further, I am very creative and enjoy sourcing materials that make learning interesting. Most importantly, my ability to work well with others, motivate and inspire is a very significant contribution that I am confident I can bring to the course and into the teaching session.

Tutoring is fulfilling to me because I enjoy helping others grow in their knowledge, especially in areas where I feel I can truly contribute to their understanding and help them find their way! I am a college sophomore working towards a degree with honors in Computer Science at the University of Texas at Dallas. I have spent all my academic life learning how to study effectively, earning high scores on the ACT and SAT, and I am passionate about passing that knowledge on to others. With my performance on standardized tests, I was able to become a National Merit Scholar and obtain a full scholarship to university, a long-time dream of mine. I have very recent experience, so I understand the hurdles that many students face. I want them to feel confident that they have the tools they need to succeed. I love teaching test prep because standardized tests have an enormous impact on people's futures, and I also teach math because it reaches across many fields, from astronomy to robotics. I work with students to encourage a personal path towards learning that is different for everyone.
