I began my career as an educator three years ago in Champaign Illinois. I was an assistant to an amazing kindergarten teacher, and together we made the school year one to remember. I saw growth in a way I had never seen it before, and as a result a fiery passion for teaching was birthed inside me.I'm the type of individual who thrives on grit. So in my world of teaching, there is no such thing as "giving up" we will try and try and try again until we improve; and then continue to move forward. My mission is to serve my students, and you will see that in my consistent, fun, and persistent style of tutoring. When I'm not working in education, I am writing, playing music with my band mates, and working at my church. I am also working on my master's in special education at Fontbonne University. One of my greatest desires is to be a positive influence to my peers and those who look up to me as a role model. Tutoring provides a greater reach in fulfilling that desire, therefore I am honored and blessed to work with any student who is requesting my services.

I attended Glenbard North Highschool and then received my Bachelor's of Science in Biology at Illinois Wesleyan University. At the university, I was a teaching assistant for a variety of the science's courses. I currently help with general chemistry and biology whether it be the high school level or college level. In my academic career the sciences were very challenging and I had some of the best tutors helping me along with the process and in part it is why I enjoy helping students. In addition, nothing beats the feeling when you see a student grasp a concept; the whole "light bulb lighting up above the head moment". I simply love the sciences because you get to observe what you learn all around you everyday and my passion allows me to shed light on the subject in a different way that relates to students' life. I was a student athlete pretty much my entire life playing football, basketball, baseball or more extravagant surfing, rock climbing, snorkeling, attempting a triathlon. I know that we need an escape sometime from the books so I tend to gravitate to my guitar or the kitchen where cooking and listening to music is refreshing. Like I said before science did not come easy so I offer an empathetic outlook and try to understand one's thinking of a problem to allow them to see their errors and essentially learn without the standard lecturing format one is used to at school. Previously, it seemed the best way to learn is to memorize a whole bunch of facts and regurgitate them on paper. However, my goal isn't to memorize, but rather learn and retain details, to overlap and combined concepts, to be able to critically think. I tend to be very out going, but at the same time I am here to listen and help, which I think fosters an environment that my favorite professors did when I attended their classes.

Calculus Tutor • +3 Subjects
I have always known I have a passion for teaching, and throughout my math education experience I have sought out opportunities for tutoring and teaching. From my Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics from the University of Minnesota, I taught as an undergraduate learning assistant as well as a tutor, mostly Calculus and Precalculus. Then, before I got started on my Master's degree from the University of Minnesota Duluth, I volunteered to tutor for a community center to help people get GEDs. And finally as I am working on finishing my Master's degree, I taught for two years as a teaching assistant for Differential Equations, Finite Math, and Calculus I and II. I would say the subjects I enjoy teaching most would be Calculus I and II since I've had the most experience teaching it, and I've seen some interesting problems and applications. Learning about math has always been enjoyable for me, and I think I started tutoring to share in that. But, as I've had more experience, I think the part I really try for now is the moment when students who are having trouble unlock the concept. I believe everyone has their own learning style, and by presenting the problem in new ways and making new connections, everyone can achieve their learning goals in math. Aside from tutoring and studying, I also enjoy traveling, exploring different foods and cultures, and playing video and tabletop roleplaying games.

I am an undergrad at Washington University in St. Louis, and am planning to double major in Business Administration and Physics. My diverse academic interests have allowed me to take a wide variety of classes and pick up many different study skills, which I hope to be able to share by tutoring.I am a strong believer that any student is capable of learning anything. With motivation, resources, and help where needed, no academic subject is ever entirely out of reach. My goal as a tutor is to not only help students understand concepts or perform well on exams, but also develop skills that will help them succeed independently in the future.

As a recent graduate Columbus College of Art and Design, I am passionate about guiding young artists toward the right path toward their future. I know the ins-and-outs of art school and what other options artists can take, besides art school. I value each student and artist as an individual with their own ways of learning and unique needs, and I try my best to give them a learning experience tailored to each. I specialize in 3D game art and digital illustration, (and have even made my own video games!) but I am experienced in art ranging from traditional painting and sculpture all the way to computer animation.Check out my website for examples of my work! https://sabelhenry.artstation.com/

I graduated from New York University this past December receiving a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in anthropology with a minor in chemistry. While my focus was in genetic anthropology, my liberal arts major has allowed me to explore a wide variety of subjects during my college experience. I began tutoring as a middle school student back in California and have continued to tutor every year since. So many years of practice has allowed me to become versed in tutoring individuals of all ages in a wide variety of subjects. For the last two years I have focused on working with students with learning disabilities such as ADHD. My teaching style focuses on reframing academic struggles as hurdles with simple and practical solutions rather than insurmountable hurdles. While I tutor in many subject areas, my passion and joy is in the sciences and mathematics. I have always seen education and learning as some of the most exciting and important opportunities in life, and I try to pass on this joy to all of my students. Outside of education I also love traveling, even within my own city, finding it's hidden streets and historic landmarks.
